I'm sure this isn't it, but has your carrier signal strength diminished at all?

Nope full bars i live by two major cities trust me i have to go under a 50 story building too drop my signal. It was at its max when it was dropping and i usually run windows messenger and exchange at the same time and get two days worth of battery. That time i didn't even run messenger or exchange and it still went bye bye. just a weird case i guess but i wont venture to flash until i create the ultimate rom i have been working called Aldo's WTF happened Rom. Ofcourse beta. ](*,)

Ditto on this...and the storm system that is passing through here now just came from that general area...the last thing they needed was rain.

Looks like they got some snow now..

Just checked the news and looks like they evacuated areas in North Dakota as the Red River has risen above 35 feet. I am sure he and the Mrs. are good but just unavailable.

I feel sad cus Scott is not making any roms cus of what he's going through so some people stop caring and his thread is on the bottom second page. Come on guys theres must be something your trying out or need help with or maybe your cooking something. Lets get this thread going before its gone. Take care

The fact that nobody is posting isn't a bad thing Aldo. That means there are no issues to post about. I can't force myself to view this as a bad thing. I am sure that most people understand that Scott has issues beyond their need for a ROM fix, so we are not bugging him with less important stuff.

Hopefully Jucytec will swing by and check the thread, I do have a difficult issue to troubleshoot

I've been cooking with a kitchen. 3 times I've been successful, on the 4th and beyond I have failure.

\tools\os-new.nb.payload does not exist (happens while running the bat, and after buildOS)

What I potentially did to cause this:
I used an untried build in said kitchen (21015) and flashed. it worked fine
I OEM'd VNC and started to flash again its the first time the error popped up
removed VNC same error
removed rom and sys, replaced with known good ... same error
deleted the kitchen, started from scratch extracting a new kitchen (same version)... same error.

I'm at a loss as to what I did wrong. There are a few more details that I do not wish to disclose, and may not matter.

That os-new message usually comes if you have got too much crap in the ROM...Try using less stuff and see if it works.

Thats the first thing I thought too, but I strip my roms down like crazy when I cook. I actually don't think I can take any more out and still have a functioning phone. I guess I'm saying I'm a minimalist... not a nudist kamokazi...

I finally got a clean kitchen. and the problem went away. I'm wondering if there were some "residual" files... etc from cooking with different builds causing this issue. I'm going to cook a few more times this afternoon and see if I can duplicate.

My view is that you have cooked a couple of STD's into your ROM.

I think you nailed it. Temp files the likely issue. A reboot fixes it everytime for me.

impudent1 03-26-2009 03:31 PM

Re: -+22 Mar 09+- UPD #18: SSK 1.6 Final Beta (20764.1.4.3) - See OP for details!

So Far Bob's STD theory is the closest to accurate. I have 2 copies of the kitchen, both folders same in size and number of files. I'm going to cook til it melts, then see what the folder size and file number climbs to. I'm assuming the .nbh will be the only additional file... Temp files are not the issue because the last thing that happens when you run the bat is to delete temp files. It's also the first thing that happens... I'm assuming BuildOS takes care of it in the beginning?

**EDIT** So, I have not been able to duplicate the problem. I've cooked with 2 different builds, a total of 5 flashes. I've pretty much kept all of my selections the same on each one, with the exclusion of adding \OEM\applications - VNCxxxx

Just a quick update. The weather in Fargo has gone from bad to worse. We have already had 8 inches of snow since the yesterday. Things are looking very grim. We were told in a city meeting today that we need to think of leaving our homes soon although they are not forcing us to evacuate. They did say the neighborhood that I am in will be pretty much blocked off from the outside world by tommorow. If we are home when they close the levee's we are stuck until its all over. I have opted not to relocate and to stay in my home during this.

Currently the Red River is at its highest point in Fargo's history and is expected to crest this Saturday. The mayor, in the meeting today, stated that this is going to be a historic event. He urged all people to conitnue filling sandbags. We have to raise the levee's around the community another two feet by Saturday. The levee's are as high as 38 feet in some area's already. They have also started building smaller contingnent levee's. These smaller levee's are the ones that will barricade my community in.

I have never seen such a surreal environment.

Wish us luck!

It's hitting the major US headlines:

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/US/weath...ota/index.html

We had a little flood around here back in 03 or 04. 15 inches of rain over 5 days, and we're in the old Black Swamp area (N-NW Ohio+NE Indiana), so it backed up pretty good, especially near the new spillway off our lake. Fortunately everything was pretty spread out, and only a few people were affected...but my friend was one of them. You'd be suprised how fast you can get everything out of a house. Fortunately a lot of sandbags and 6 water pumps did the trick and kept it dry. They now have a permanent 4 foot dike around their house, and enough sandbags on hand to cover the driveway :-)

Good luck Scott. And just because NSDQ, it doesn't mean a temporary strategic withdrawl is a bad idea :-) Better safe than swimming!

Scott, I'm not a prayer, but if I were, I'd ask for Moses to stop by Fargo. Good luck, and most importantly stay safe. I know you elected to stay for the good of the community, and I admire you for that. Empty towns don't build dikes.

Actually just as of yesterday, with the help of someone in the forums, I got it working perfectly. I finally found a way to delete the start menu and implement my own start menu setup with SDConfig. FatFrosty showed me how to use Mortscript which takes care of all that. It works awesome. The only slight glitch I have is changing roms.

For instance, when I copied how my start menu is set up and made a back up of it, a different rom might have or not have the programs you like so you can end up with a a few dead shortcuts in the programs folder and/or start menu if you dont have it set up correctly. A small price to pay though since now everytime I flash my I automatically have a large start menu with the programs I need in it.. Its spectacular. One of the best inventions since the wheel. lol

Check it out. Read Fatfrosty's quote.

I think I will have to read and play with that entire thread in order to get up to speed. I took a quick glance, to see if there were itemized instructions, and it looks scary as hell!

On a side note, I built my own rom with a manila I borrowed from mobilematt. I used the 1.6 kitchen (with some personal tweaks) the 21015 build (one of my favorites). along with a few custom apps that I converted from .cab to actual OEM's. I'm pretty pleased with myself today, other than being extremely tired. I Flashed at 1:30 AM and have been solid since... who knew. I wound up tweaking until 4:30 AM.

I thought the same too! This is too much for me! lol, but its not bad at all. It looks a lot worse than it really is. I find adjusting xml's way tougher than what this was compromised of. If you need help PM me, I will do what I can do to show you how I set mine up.

Also, 21015 is MY favorite build too! I need to learn more about using the sys builds although if I try to cram anymore nerdiness (which isnt bad!) in my body I'm going to have to get a pocket protector and put a band aid in the middle of my glasses frame.

Hopefully everything is okay with you today Scott. I built up a 21015 b2b rom last night, its amazing how much faster it is over the stock verizon. Couple of questions, if I want to add cabs into the rom during build can I copy them into the oem folder?

Second question is regarding the vibe on connect feature during calls, it seems to not work anymore even though the box is checked?
