Ok, I like the ROM..But there seems to be an issue with some thing hanging up....It seems as though while im typing lets say I am pressing the space bar when this "hang up" happens, it will just keep spacing away if u know what i mean. Does the same on any letter I am pressing when this happens. At first I though my keys on my keyboard were sticking. But now my key board doesnt seem to wanna work. Is there a fix I may have missed or something??

Dude, the only difference between your ignorance and mine, is that I stumbled upon some info. I've can flash a rom and a few other things, thats it. I've been doing this for 2 weeks total

That said I found this link a little easier, and it may lead you down the path:

I know scott created a ROM based on the stock build.

I will look through my ROMs and see if I have it.

Great question! I found the easiest way to have this answer readily available is better file management on my PC.

\kitchen\21015\kitchen_core_C2\(all the goodies)
\kitchen\21018\you get the idea

**EDIT** this will bite you in the backside if you are not careful when it comes to the pagepool utility. If you are going with a different build, you better be sure you get the right path to the .nbh file or something bad will happen. I'm not sure what it is yet, but eventually I'll get complacent or in a hurry and will hose myself.

Granted there will be a lot of duplication, but keeping your builds seperate is golden. I mean, who really goes through and deletes their duplicate MP3's?

Ok With that being said, Im reloading it right now. But uhhh thats only bc I could never get this phone to hard reset. Power button, Volume down button and the enter that is between the talk and end. If that makes sense..Any order or tricks to the trade?

Press the center of the D-PAD and hold the reset button at the same time until you get the reset message.

yeah, that method sucks. I'm already fat, so that one is virtually impossible.

press and hold the thumb button (aka enter) hit the soft reset switch, maintain pressure on the thumb button until you are prompted to hit volume UP.
When it's completed the phone will prompt you for volume UP again.

backstory: the reason i got a winmo phone is because of my work. we used to use palm software for our mobile applications but we just switched to winmo 6.1 to do the same thing

now they just released the new software for us and i have been having a VERRY tough time getting it to work with my ssk 1.5 rom. the help desk couldnt help me so i tried everything, deleting apps, hard resets, etc and still couldnt get it to work. i was using build 21015.

i decided that maybe the build of winmo might have been the problem and guess what, it was so i reflased with the stock build and low and behold it FINALLY worked. i alos tried every other build and the only one that worked was the stock one.

now the question i have is what is so diff. between the build numbers that would cause this?

i am still somewhat of a newb so i hope this isnt a dumb question and hopefully my story makes sense. if anyone could assist me or if you need more details any help would be appreciated cuz the stock build.... well it sux lol. i would much rather use the newer ones.

thanx in advance!!

Red welcome to the forum..

I think I know why your special app might be crashing...

.NET compact framework 2.0 and 3.5 are separate packages, but... 3.5 UPGRADEs some of the 2.0 Packages with Service Packs. Having said that, the Original SYS included with Vz's stock ROM has just .NET 2.0. Scott's ROM and many other cooked ROMs already pack 3.5 in the SYS or the OEM package.

Your solution may be as simple as getting a SYS version of 2.0 .NET and replacing the 3.5 folder entirely (if you are cooking that is...). You special App just might not support the Service Packs included in the 3.5 package.

well, if you read his post, and the one I followed it up with (we were typing at the same time, mine was longer). then there is a third option, that sucks more because you have to do the ole *228 when you are done.

settings\system\memory

clear storage
type in 1234 then hit the ok button in the upper RIGHT hand corner

This will kill anything you installed after the initial flash.

I know that some people have said that they need to try a few times before they get it.

Either that or go to start> settings> System Tab> Memory> clear Storage tab. Enter 1234 in the text box and then hit the OK button in the upper right hand corner of the screen (like you would normally close a program).

The only problem is if you use this method you will HAVE to reprogram your phone by dialing *22899.

If you can get the center of the d-pad and the reset button option to work, you will NOT HAVE to re program with *22899.

That's your problem right there: the stock ROM has NCF2 in the base, the custom ROMs do not. If you flash 21015 or better yet 21018, and install NCF2 from MS downloads, then install your app, all will be well in WM World. There's no issue running both NCF35 and NCF2, it is actually recommended and supported, just as it is on your PC. For that matter, same can be said about running different levels of Java.

At this point, I'd recommend a hard reset to flush out any residual crap that might be left over from previous efforts.

Why would custom ROM's not have NCF2? My experience so far is that all of Scott's ROM's have NCF2 left in. Why would someone not want that cooked into the ROM?

The S2A in the roms is a phonecanvas for the actual dialer on the phone. S2U2 S2A is in that app. I used to use the S2U2 S2A but when the new radio and phoencanvas was released I swtiched.

To me it is just one less third party app running for something my phone can do on it's own.

Ok, that makes more sense. Someone needs to rename the S2A app, because that is confusing as hell. I originally thought that S2A was a plugin for S2U2 S2A because until I installed S2A I couldn't get the S2U2 S2A to work properly. Looking back I think it was probably a setting or something that didn't take until a reboot.

So what is S2A vs the Curtain. The installers say Slide to Answer WITH curtain. If I have S2U2 S2A enabled, is that hiding another function of S2A. The way the installer explains it, it sounds like S2A with Curtain is 2 functions, one to "slide to answer", and then a curtain that blocks off the dialpad.

Be patient, I'm slow. =)

Thanks ya' freak! =)

That S2A with curtain is the HTC dialer ripped from the TouchHD (I think). It has Slide to Answer, different from S2U2 (but they are both functionally the same), and has a curtain over the buttons while in-call.

So it is 2 functions then? I had S2A installed without S2U2 S2A enabled and I never had any other function then just the curtain over the dialer. Am I missing something?

I just confirmed this. I turned off/disabled S2A from within S2U2 and am not getting any S2A feature, just the original answer/end buttons. I do get the curtain over the dialer. Nothing requires to me slide any buttons on the screen like I see in the S2A thread. Do I need to reinstall the app?
