Re: Dr. Squishy's ROM Review Thread (Updated 2/4/09)
I'm creating a blogspot on my adventures with Touch Pro custom roms.
It will be updated regularly. http://romtalk.blogspot.com/ Updated with a quick review and screenshots of Juicy's ROM. Last edited by xdanimalx; 02-05-2009 at 02:43 PM. |

Re: Dr. Squishy's ROM Review Thread (Updated 2/4/09)
I'm about to start searching for how to backup my ROM with all my settings and programs... then I'm installing another one to try. I've had some problems with the interface- but that's not the fault of Mighty. It's the theme I installed I think. Kinda quirky. Fortunately it uninstalls easily and I can get back to the basic black interface.

Re: Dr. Squishy's ROM Review Thread (Updated 2/4/09)
Great write up and much better than the usual "Who has the best ROM" kind of thing. We all know there are a handful of great ROMs according to your preferences and it would be great if the MODs would consider posting a sticky page that had them listed so myself and the other noobs could find them easier. Perhaps the developers of these ROMs could post their ROM followed by what they are trying to achieve (speed / speed and loaded with applications / and so on...
How did Rice's ROM get the sticky post?

To be honest, everyone has been raving about the Mighty Rom, etc... but I haven't found any one ROM that I'm happy enough with performance to keep for a more than a day, and I've been shopping around to see what all the fuss is about. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I'm not even finding them so fast compared to my own personal kitchen builds using various bases... if you've got the time, I recommend playing with a kitchen to see what you come up with. Different ROMs have different things that I personally like (I happen to like the display driver that Mighty is currently using over what I had in my last kitchen build, but the Omnia d3d driver is supposed to deliver better Opera scrolling, so I'm at a loss as to why everyone isn't using it...), but the best way to find a perfect fit is to make it yourself, IMO. I would think THAT is why Rice's is stickied, and these are not. To be honest, I think this thread has been much needed for a long time (wanted to do this a while ago, but new ROMs kept coming out that I hadn't tried yet). THIS should be stickied.

Re: Dr. Squishy's ROM Review Thread (Updated 2/4/09)
I think to have a true "ROM comparison thread" one would need to create a spreadsheet with all the different "features" on the left hand column, and all the ROMs on the top row (like they do for comparing different operating systems and other products) and then put X's or checkmarks or whatever in the box for each feature a ROM has. There could also be features where specifics are listed (like pagepool, VS benchmark, etc), so people could see which ROMs perform the best, which ROMs have which features, etc.
