How did you confirm this? I had shadowmites 1.2 rom with a 48 dynamic PP yesterday and after 14 hours it was at 49%. Thats not any worse than I was normally getting.

Plus read above the test that deviant one performed. Did you not notice the difference was immaterial.

Because with JD's 24 mb pp that i had on friday lasted me the whole day with 40% battery left at the end of the day with regular use, and friday night i added the 48 dyn pp, and charged phone over night, and around 1p.m. my phone was at 30% battery life, and other users have also confirmed this thruogh there daily use.

Re: JD's ROM with Custom Pagepools + Controlled Battery Testing Results

Yea, Active Sync is always been a known battery killer.
There really is no way to kill it all together. The only way I can see killing it is to not install and when it comes time to need it, install it with a cab.

Page pools cannot necessarily kill a battery unless you are using them. Its just the reallocation of memory.

Re: JD's ROM with Custom Pagepools + Controlled Battery Testing Results

Talyn...there is a way to disable Active Sync...someone posted it awhile back on the Titan Upgrades Forum in the NueRom 3 with Kernel thread. I will search for it and post it here. I did this last night after reflashing to JD5.1 48 MB Dyn PP. I will monitor my battery usage today since before flashing yesterday I was running JD5 with 36 PP.

Edit:--I found it...here it is....http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...=37574&page=41

Re: JD's ROM with Custom Pagepools + Controlled Battery Testing Results

Im confused......It seems people are saying that the 24 pp is the best especially for battery life. Should we use the static or the dynamic? thanks for the help

I think general idea on the forums is dynamic is better than static. We are still testing and debating the PP issue. I posted earlier that it does seem to eat up the battery in my case.

Also, a comment on deviant.ones' experiment:
"there were no phone calls or texts or unneccesary connections to data or activesync so this is as much controlled as I think i can make it."

What if a higher PP causes battery drainage only when the phone is in use such as calls and texting? Just a thought but it is not out of the question.

Re: JD's ROM with Custom Pagepools + Controlled Battery Testing Results

I thought that I would weigh in here with my experience with a high (48mb dyn pp) and battery life. I am running JD 5.1 and previously was running JD 5 with a 36 MB dyn PP. This is my very un-scientific test from yesterday.

test started at 4:19

wifi - on
bluetooth - on
data connection - on
phone - on
listened to Windows Media Player for the entire period

Answered 2 phone calls during this testing period

48MB Dynamic Page Pool

100% immediately dropped to 98%
five minutes later it was sitting at 95%
After 2 full hours at 6:19 I was sitting at 84%

After more normal usage, consisting of a couple of phone calls, one over
hour long while connected via Remote Desktop...usage finally went down
to 20 percent at 10:19

I think a more scientific way would be to look at actual power consumption, rather than the somewhat subjective use of battery percent, charge time, etc.

Yes. Use something that measures the drain.
