JDTP5.1 and JDTPL1 with Custom Pagepools + Controlled Battery Testing Results

JD wanted this in a seperate thread so here it is. Updated to include JDTPL1 36 and 48 PP, I am not doing any other PP because it has been thoroughly PROVEN by myself and if you don't care about my electrical knowledge Juggs has even stated that without a doubt it is impossible for the PP to effect the battery life. And on top of that for everyone that complained about wanting the diff PP sizes only 9 static pagepools total were downloaded so not doing static, only 12 dyn 24 were downloaded, 22 dyn 36 downloaded and 187 dyn 48 downloaded so I believe these numbers speak for themselves. Enjoy.

Ok, you all owe me since I actually deprived myself of my phone for over 7 hours to test for you all. So far I have tested JDTP5.1 completely stock except for the 1% battery patch with wifi and bluetooth on and phone in airplane mode at 24, 36, and 48 Dynamic for 2 hours, and actually set a timer, and here are the results.

After 2 hours 24 D Pagepool battery was at 92%
36 D Pagepool battery was at 91%
48 D Pagepool battery was at 92%

To make sure it was as accurate as possible I flashed rom with said pagepool, went through customization, applied 1% increment patch, turned on bluetooth and paired to headset, turned on wifi and connected to home network, turned on airplane mode and returned to clock screen. As soon as I had a solid white lite to show a full charge I unplugged and started 2hr timer. I did this each time so there were no phone calls or texts or unneccesary connections to data or activesync so this is as much controlled as I think i can make it. I was planning on testing the three in static but after seeing these results I don't see how the pagepool could be affecting battery life.

And from an electronics point of view, nomatter where the ram is allocated the chip will always draw the same amount of power. In a pc if you watch the voltage of your ram they are identical between a 512mg chip and a 4gb chip so I would imagine the same would hold true for PPC's.

Regardless I am still going to HEX 24, 36, 48 Dynamic and Static Pagepool versions and upload them since I know there are still probably plenty of people that will swear its different even though there not willing to do a truly controlled test.

EDIT1: Controlled Testing Results
EDIT2: Updated Dynamic and Static Pagepool Downloads
EDIT3: Updated to JDTPL1 with Popular Pagepools

No Prob, wouldn't have posted it in your thread if I knew people were going to start debating battery life with a higher pagepool. Personally I get the same battery life with 24 and 48 so I doubt that is there problem but whatever, LOL.

Damn, the battery life issues has me worried. I was about to switch over. I will hold off for now.

see d1 this is why I asked that you make a new thread for this because the pp controls ram which does effect battery life (I'm kinda buzzing right now if anyone wants to correct me later) but anyway thanks for understanding ... also for those of you who are reading this ...........

I think something like a 24 mb or 36 would be better. I'd be willing to live with that. On my mogul using nuerom3, I changed the page pool to 8 mb and the Mogul flew so much faster. I think doubling the page pool should be fine since Tf3d takes up so much ram.

JD's ROM with the modified higher PP got my battery through half a day with minimal use today.

JD's original ROM got my battery through a full day with 30% charge remaining. Interesting to note that I also used the phone more yesterday than I did today.

I'm almost confident that too high a PP causes battery drain but then again I'm a dentist not a programmer.

Re: JD's ROM with Custom Pagepools

I was going to say that I'm running shadowmite 1.2 and before I flashed I edited the pagepool to 48 dynamic and haven't had any battery issues. I took it off the charger at 1045am and its now 8:54pm and it is still at 73%. So I don't necessarily feel that its the high pagepool that is hurting the battery, unless it is rom specific.
