That is actually one of the things that is making me lean towards them NOT charging. Remember the GPS issue? I think they learned from that and with the tethering option on the Pre being free now it wouldn't make too much sense (pardon the pun) to have the option free on one phone and charge on another (just an opinion).

I would think the Incredible would positively be up for the upgrade seeing as it was released within weeks of the OS release, and as for the time of release, I have stated before that I would be surprised to get the upgrade by the end of the year, so I'm not sweating a 'later in the year' estimate LOL!!!!

Thanks for the update NCX!!!

Re: Root root root!!!!

Found another article,

Engadget
says:

Quote:
Prodded on the subject by Pocket-lint, the company has replied that it's starting out with the Desire and Incredible and working through other "hotly anticipated new phones," which should sound a reassuring note for prospective Evo 4G owners. A full list will be provided as we get closer to release, but don't wait with bated breath just yet, current indications are that the software upgrade will be coming in the second half of the year. By which time we'll all probably have a taste for Gingerbread.
Then from the source:

Quote:
HTC has confirmed to Pocket-lint that "most phones launched this year will get an upgrade to [Android] 2.2". following the announcement that Google will be releasing the latest version of the mobile phone OS in the next couple of weeks.
also if you note on the other post i made a while back that HTC said they were working with google to bring a "full Froyo Sense experience" to the devices, which could translate into a newer version of Sense with integrated Froyo API's

Re: Root root root!!!!

Not to raise too many hopes (and a bit more on-track with the thread's title LOL)....I just saw a post by acidbath over @ Androidforums (also @ XDA) that I thought would be of interest over here:

In response to someone eagerly anticipating root to get 2.2 sooner:

True Hope???? False Hope?????? I'm not sure, but acidbath hasn't mis-lead me yet and seems to know what he is talking about, so I am staying optimistic and leaving these guys to work their magic!!!!

Re: Root root root!!!!

while i'm not 100% familiar with rooting, coming from WinMo, with HSPL being used on that side of things.

isn't there risks involved in rooting? like bricking your phone?

can someone elaborate for us new Android users? i'll give you a cookie! (not really)

Re: Root root root!!!!

Rooting on Android is not as dangerous as it was on WM. However, it is possible to brick a device so it is always best to take it easy while attempting the first time.
