Re: [4-18-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [pre5][1.0]

I meant I wasn't 100% sure that mediaserver was the same thing that was causing your problem, but to go ahead and give deleting it a shot.

Edit: come to think of it, I was having the same issue on CM7 n41. I tried everything and couldn't get CPU use down. That's how I ended up back here on pre5. I was going to stay on CM until 1.0 dropped, but wanted to see if I could shake the issue. Sure enough, pre5 hasn't had any issues for me other than wifi being broken.

Tempted to restore my CM backup and see if it's the same thing.

I kept having CPU time 96-100% on Pre 3,4 and 5 until I was able to figure out it was the gallery apk doing it to me....since removing it this afternoon I have been 2-40% depending on load and my cpu hasnt peaked above 785.....screen on right now its 3.4% and 328mhz.

Re: [4-18-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [pre5][1.0]

Thanks for the gallery tip I will try that. Something else I noticed is if you use an older kernel like savagedzen .2.1 it doesn't do it at all... weird. Must be some incompatibility between new kernels and the gallery. Anyways thank you very much for letting me know it was the gallery. Ill get rid of the gallery, replace it with quickpic and bandb and flash the newest savagedzen and report back.

Edit
Ok cool. Gallery3d gone. Newest kernel works fine. What I am worried about though is if the gallery was causing this, is it an opengl problem and now every time I use open go I am going to lock whatever program is using open go at 100 percent CPU?. I assume the 3dgallery.APk didn't change versions right? Because it works fine with old kernels makes me suspect it is an opengl problem in all the new kernels.

Also it does the mediaserver lock on savagedzen rom with current kernels from tiamat cyanogen and savagedzen. So definitely a kernel problem and nothing wrong with deck's rom at all. yay deck.

I think I'm just going to run the savagedzen .2.1 kernel until the problem gets fixed. Then I can use pre5, keep the gallery and not have to worry about opengl apps

Some guys on xda think it has do with the new GPS driver.. and that GPS triggers the 100% CPU.. just a thought. That's why I haven't updated my cm nightly.. I'm on 39

if you see on my last post when i posted pre5, thats exactly what it is. my cpu hangs at abou 0 - 4% now on pre5 with tiamt kernel. i dont have any problems with gallery on pre5. ill post scrfeenshots of my battery usage soon. WIFI PROBLEMS PLEASE FLASH TIAMAT OR SAVAGED ZENS LATEST KERNEL, AND MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE EVO KERNEL
Still working on finishg touches for 1.0. BTW, 1.0 will probably have tiamat sbc kernel stock. so if you dont like sbc or are affraid of it (which you shouldnt be, take it from me, its perfectly safe) you may want to download the non sbc kernel of your choice. i am hoping i dont have to push 1.0 back, doing everything i can to release on time.

Am glad that you're diligently working on your ROM...but I'm sure I'm not just speaking for myself...if it takes you an xtra couple of days to get things "JUST" right...then I'm all for it. Running pre5 TIAMAT's latest on the kernel manager...and loving the performance of the ROM. I'm frustrated that I can't OC my EVO OVER 1.19 Ghz...think its just my hardware (original shipment when the phone came out) GPS locked almost immediately tonight for at least 45 min while traveling down the freeway...and did NOT lose lock...so I'm pretty convinced the GPS problem is gone. Will be testing the navigation tomorrow (to include that issue about nav volume not present while music is playing.)
