Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.2 Custom ROM v4.4 | FroYo 3.70.651.1 | *Updated 12/30/10*

I've done a search for this, but frankly, there are just too many posts for me to search through them all lol Sorry if this has been asked a bunch, but:

I read on the front page that the new v4.4 has fixed the force closed issues, but when I flashed the rom, I got CONSTANT force closes for the android process running. I almost couldn't even navigate to Rom Manager to revert back to my old ROM. Is there a fix for this or something? The ROM was completely unusable. I originally flashed v1.9 or something without realizing it was an old version, and it was more stable than the latest version I went to after that one!

the FC problem you are having is on your end.....are your radios up to date? did you wipe & reset data? also, there have been many reports of issues from ppl using Rom Manager to flash......I would stay away from Rom Manager.

the FC issue from v4.3 was only when accessing menu/settings/wireless & networks/mobile networks

I think my radios are up to date. I used to do all kinds of modding on Windows Mobile, but I'm learning as I go as far as android. I'm trying to read up on everything still, but I have a pretty good basic understanding of everything, I've read the beginner stickies and all that jazz...

Anyway, I'll try installing it without Rom Manager and see if that works. Do you think it would help if I did a hard reset first and wiped it?

That last part might be your problem...it was recommended coming from a ROM other than 4.3 to wipe everything. Because the new ROM is from a new base.

so if we shouldn't use the rom manager in this rom to flash new versions, just use the recovery console option in the reboot menu?

Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.2 Custom ROM v4.4 | FroYo 3.70.651.1 | *Updated 12/30/10*

Ok, I used the wipe data/cache feature in rom manager and it flashed the rom fine, no force close errors. The only problem I'm having is even though I have internet access and everything, I can't log into my google account, it says "can't establish a reliable data connection to the server." Is that a ROM issue or sprint issue? I haven't had any issues before...

EDIT: Ok, I got it figured out, thanks to a friend with some knowledge. Ok, so apparently if the phone won't sync with gmail or allow you to pair your phone to your email, if you open the youtube app and sign in (I had to hit menu > my channel for it to prompt me to login), provided you have your youtube account synced with your gmail, once you sign in to youtube it will then carry that over to your phone, and then your phone is synched to gmail. Worked for me! Hope this helps someone.

I think it depends on what recovery you have installed. if you choose recovery from the reboot menu, and you only have the clockwork recovery installed, I'm not sure where it will take u. I dont use rom manager, I have in the past, but I can't remember....

it's just my opinion not to use rom manager, just because of all the issues I've seen posted, but I also read that their latest version is better.

it's not the rom.....I have seen that b4, but it passed after trying a few times

Ok, so I have another question. I am wanting to get NOVA on my phone, because I actually like that game a lot. I searched, and everything I got seems to be people trying to get rid of the game lol I purchased it prior to rooting my device, and I went on gamelofts website and it says my phone isn't supported, I guess only the Epic can get that now?? Idk, but they preload it on updated EVOs now, wierd. Do you have a apk file or something for NOVA? I didn't see it listed in the download you had of uninstalled apps on the first page.

This was happening to me as well. A few pages back, OMJ posted a hulu fix that I flashed and now it's working fine. I'll see if I can find it.

Do you remember OMJ?
