so i just went from 3.7 to 4.0 and this time i decided i would move the data.img from my nandroid backup and restore it on the newly flashed rom. so i did it and it seems everything went ok, but what exactly does the data.img file restore? it seems like i have had to repeat all my personalized settings after the flash. thanks for the help.

I generally wipe the cache and D-Cache and then flash the new rom. I've not done a factory reset for a while. Perhaps that's my problem.

Despite it happening to both of you it's gotta be your devices/set up.

OMJ makes rock solid ROMs so it aint that ;)

For systematic instability like that you either 1) didnt get a clean wipe, 2) didnt get a complete download of the ROM, 3) have a corrupted SD card, 4) you have an ungodly number of SMS/MMS/emails that you are trying to hold on to and the system is revolting, 5) have installed some mod that is causing the issue (unlikely that you both installed/made the same mod tho)

First what recovery are you using? If you are using Clockwork I'd suggest flashing over to amon RA recovery. You can do this from ROM Manager-select the Flash Alternate Recovery option within the menu.
Second, if you are on amon-did you/how did you wipe prior to install? I would reflash but first do a complete wipe-factory reset 2X's and wipe Dalvik 2X's. While not required for every flash you may have something causing the instability that needs to be wiped clean.
Third, clean up your inboxes. Some users try to maintain messages in the hundreds or even thousands and while this usually just results in a system slow down may be causing some instability.
If that doesnt do it then I would back up and then reformat your SD card with fats32. You may have to be conservative with the files you put back on the card in case its a specific file that was corrupted.

Good luck and happy bug hunting.

You can have 4g tether you just cant tether and wifi at the same time.

By the way...Great ROM OMJ. Smooth and I haven't ran into any problems. Keep up the good work ol friend.

Ok maybe I wasn't clear. I know I can't tether and wifi at the same time. When I turn on tether or wifi (not at the same time, its an either/or thing) then 4G stops working.

Mine does that when I power off my bluetooth when using Vlingo, posted in this thread. That issue is related to the app and not the ROM. As iknowsquat suggested do a factory reset and clear the Davlik cache two times each then reinstall the ROM.

Good Luck.

data.img should restore all your settings & data....I do it all the time & after restoring, I'm back where I left off with settings, apps, emails etc...

OMJ,

First off, I Love your ROM!! Kudos! But, I'm having an issue downloading your latest one. I right-click on the link and "Save As", but it's just sitting there (It times out). Both links are timing out. I tried this in Firefox, and IE. Do you have a mirror site?

Ok... Why would you want 4G and WiFi running at the same time? It seems rather redundant, and HTC/Sprint probably feel the same way which is why they won't run at the same time.

If you're running 4G and turn on WiFi, 4G will sit in standby until you turn off WiFi...then 4G will kick back on. If you're running WiFi and turn on 4G, 4G will start but sit in standby until you turn off WiFi...then 4G will kick back on.

As far as tethering...
...do not tether while on WiFi...won't work.
...4G will not work using Sprint Hotspot...you're limited to 3G.
...4G and 3G will work if you use Wireless Tether.

If you're having issues with 4G not working on Wireless Tether, try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Oh, and just to cover my own bases...I should make sure that we're both on the same page as far as terminology.

WiFi... "Wi-Fi" is used to connect to a home/public wireless router to access the internet....as you would if you were on a laptop.
Tether... Using your Evo as a router for a laptop to connect to the internet.
Wireless Tether... The app "Wireless Tether" used to tether wirelessly.
Sprint Hotspot... The default wireless tethering app from Sprint. The version in this ROM is the mod'd version that allows you to tether without paying Sprint's $30 a month for tethering. Like I said though, this mod doesn't allow for 4G tethering...at the moment.
