Is it necessary to run hboot .76.2

Will flashing rom1 make my hboot .76.2?

I have tried to get my hboot to .76.2 but when I Rename the file "PC36IMG.zip" --> "root-PC36IMG.zip" and then rename "eng-PC36IMG.zip" --> "PC36IMG.zip"

It reads the file but it never ask me to UPDATE.

This is after I successfully run all the dos commands.

The directions I have been following are Section 2 Version 2 - Using the PC - from this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=123714

Yes, if you want to flash 1.7 ROM1 you MUST unlock your Nand first.
Make sure you got a complete download of the PC36 file. It has to be @170MB

looks good Winmo. I know you said you didnt wipe but when you do wipe when applying a theme, do you wipe cache only? just curious. Thanks

konikub doesnt mention wipes one way or the other.
From my quick research it may/may not be necessary but I'd think it's an all or nothing type of dealio. Depends on the theme and it's components. So either nothing or BOTH reset and dalvik.
I just going to go nuts and flash his themes all over each other and report back what happens :)

EDIT:While watching the flash (Man, I need help :geek:) is says "Installing update, deleting files...copying files" so that may be why a wipe is not needed. Just a guess.

Thank you Winmonewbie.

Is this what I should follow to Unlock Nand? Or is there another way you suggest?

Yes that is the correct step. Did you verify the file size? If you follow the steps with the correct files then it should work just fine.
You MIGHT be able to run a program like Simple root and let it do you for you. I am NOT positive on what the results of that would be since you are currently partially rooted.
If you cant get the manual steps to go then IMO your best option is to flash back to a stock ROM and start over. Let Simple root take over from scratch.

@riley-just flashed DetoxBlues over the last theme and it installed perfectly!
Oh the possibilities :spin:

my questio may have been miss earlier due to individual trying to locate the 1.7OTA upgrade from 1.6, I think i have a copy of it, but I rename it so I have to determine it from Chris owned he posted....

I believe it is flashed just like a rom, put the .zip on sd card, but you may want to ask the dev u are getting the kernel from

My question is there a way to flash and not have to re setup my apps (put user name and pass in 40 times again). I have done a nandroid backup a few times and also TI backup. Is it worth me flashing from 1.6 to 1.8? I love it the way it is minus the wireless tether not working..... any help?:disgust:

you'll have to flash the new OTA eventually unless u stay on 1.6....1.6 is based on the latest rom but it does not have all the OTA updates....you could flash 1.8 w/o wiping, but u still wont have all the updates, but at least you'll be on a newer rom

This is konikub's EnamoRED theme. FULL Theme!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=720941
Links to all of his other themes are at the bottom of Post #1.
He will say if it's for a specific ROM but most of his themes say they should work on any Sense based ROM with the latest OTA.
LOL I dl's about six of his themes, going to take them all for spin.
He includes some wallpapers too.
Nand backup first then flash yer brains out :evil4:

EDIT:I didnt wipe, just flashed right over the top of the 1.8D ROM

I dont use ROM Manager. Supposedly Nand backup and the backup that ROM Manager does are essentially the same. I've read you can take the components of the nand and move them over to the ROM Manager backup folder and run it. That tells me they are the same. Haven't done this, just passing along what I've read.
IMO as far as recovery and backups go-thanks to quickboot I dont see a need for ROM Manager.

File size is wrong on the eng-PC36img file it was only 120mb. Thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully this was the issue..
