So the fact that one says signed and the other doesn't is a non factor? Also if if its like winmo I just plug to jab and start the program... same thing here right?

I'm guessing both are actually "shipped" ROMs. And all I did was plug in the phone and hit start. It got to one stage and hung saying waiting on bootloader or something like that. I unplugged the phone and plugged it back in and hit start again and everything ran fine.

Hope that helps. And trust yourself. I flashed my phone about 87 times on Sunday, got stuck in a boot-loop, flashed this RUU, re-rooted and started flashing again. I have a IQ of 17 and still got my phone running great today.

Re: Sprint HTC Evo 4G Shipped ROM

I didn't change it from charge and it ran fine. Maybe if you put it in bootloader first, that would help. I don't know why you would get a USB connection error. Is that error coming from the RUU?

Re: Sprint HTC Evo 4G Shipped ROM

@meatgel

first i tried it with usb sync then i tried it with hard drive and each time it would reboot my phone then my computer would say usb connection error and the phone was stuck in the screen with the skateboarding droids i had to remove the battery and replay to get it to work again. when i get home i will try charge only if that doesnt work i will try putting it in bootloader mode

Just so i'm clear here is what i should do step by step...

turn phone on
plug to usb on pc
leave on charge only
turn phone off
while still plugged in push vol down and power
when the skateboarding androids screen comes on start the ruu on my pc?
is that it? have i missed anything?

Re: Sprint HTC Evo 4G Shipped ROM

Try starting the RUU straight from the powered-on phone ...don't worry about putting it into bootloader yourself ... the RUU does that.

What he is saying (I am having the same issue) is that when he tries to allow the .exe send him to bootloader, the system times out and gives him an error. I will not read through usb with this .exe

Did some reading, if you are still having the problem here is the solution that worked for me.

Boot the phone into the bootloader (when the phone is off hold vol down + power on) when you see the 4 options, and the androids at the bottom skateboarding plug in the usb, select fastboot and then start the RUU from the PC. The first time I ran it, it told me my battery was below 30%, I reran it and the second time it ran all the way through. I took some time, and it went back in forth on the percentages (from 60 back to 57) made me nervouys, but it completed.
