Changing to *.wav files worked for me.

The battery use is really high for me when I allow weather auto refresh or my email to auto check for mail. Making both manual refresh extends the battery to a 12 hour period easily and I live near the edge of the coverage zone for sprint data. Phone does heat badly on phone calls however with standard 1.11 radio.

I probably missed a setting but my email under Sense 2.5 auto deletes my old inbox messages when I select send/receive to check for new mail from my WindowsLive.com account?!? Anybody know what setting I missed?

Yes, Sense-UI wasn't really meant for the Diamond. It taxes the processor to such an extent that lower battery life is a fact of life now.

So, you can always turn off WiFi, bluetooth, and the auto-updates of Twitter, Stock Market, e-mail, and weather. This has helped me. I found a big savings switching from BeejiveIM to Palringo for instant messages.

Good to know. So far it seems to be the only bug I've encountered.

I've noticed that the data doesn't disconnect by itself after checking weather or doing anything with the net. Would it be less of a drain on battery if you manually disconnect after every small data session?

Interesting - how exactly do you know that data doesn't disconnect? If by watching the data bars on the top, then I think somewhere NRG said it doesn't properly reflect actual data usage.

Furthermore, how do manually disconnect data? Would you do so via Settings --> Wireless Controls --> Data Connection = Off?
Let us know...

I tap on the top right area where the signal bar/battery is. Brings up a small menu up top. Then click the Leftmost icon which looks like a PPC with arrows next to it. It shows if you have a data session active.

I'm sure theres another way to do it, but this is the fastest.

I know the default weather refresh is 30 minutes and I think picture messages and some other programs turn the data on as well. I changed my weather to refresh only when I choose to. Otherwise, I'm still puzzled by this data situation. Is it supposed to just stay on like this?
