I don't like having too much crap on my phone cause it tends to make the phone go slower IMO.
One of my biggest personal dislikes about the HD Manila was the squished weather tab. It didn't fit in with the rest of the tabs for appearance and feel. That's why I used the regular Manila weather for that tab and made all the other tabs HD.

I played around with Rhodium for a couple days, it looks promising and very tweakable. However, I've been going Manila-less in my latest ROMs, after going over a week with the Manila turned off, I didn't miss it, so I stopped cooking it into my ROMs.

I loved DCD Vogue ROM's! Guess that is why I was a Juicy fan too.

Looking forward to see some ALRoms. Make it happen, Captain.

Juicy's gone to the Touch Pro, and Jmz's phone went for a swim. Juicy ROM was one of my favorites, because it was frugal and didn't have strange customizations. Quite frankly, most of these customizations look like crap.

Since I'm a proud Diamond owner, and I've been playing around with Calcu's kitchen for a while now, I'll release some ROMs shortly, loosely following the Juicy philosophy. No chance of me ditching for a Pro, because I'm stuck on contract. ;D

I'll release my ROMs in two editions: Frugal and Tweaked.

Frugal would be the one closest to the Juicy line of ROMs, containing only up-to-date software, tweaked for stability. Most likely I'll use a VGA manila and EzInput 1.5, just because they work better. Frugal would be updated as necessary for updates, stability, and bug fixes.

Tweaked would include my personal preference of cooked-in apps (Jbed, PIM Backup, Registry Editor, etc), along with some potentially unstable upgrades, such as Rhodium Manila and TD2 Keyboard, and some non-standard tweaks. Tweaked would get a release every time I flash my phone and I'm happy with it, so expect no more than a day or two between releases. Quality and features may vary.

Any feedback? Go or no go? And from the description, which one would you use?

Re: [feedback] alRom

I heard XBmod Rhodium Manila 1D is out. I'll look into it asap.

Another note: I never liked how WinMo software development is often so closed up. It promotes reinventing the wheel when solutions already exist. As such, I'll release any OEMs I tweak for others to cook into their own ROMs if they wish.

Re: [F0.9 RC] alRom

First Frugal release is up. Let me know what you think. (:

I decided to go with the Topaz keyboard, since it's stable now, and is easier to use.

Re: [F0.9 RC] alRom

Just finished flashing this to my phone - it's a fast ROM! Haven't had a chance to mess with it too much - need sleep/got work early! lol Will mess with it at work and let you know how it's running for me! Thanks for the ROM!

Re: [F0.9 RC] alRom

Yeah, I just noticed how fast it is myself. p: Glad you like it so far; looking forward to more reports. (:

To do: remove Sprint Extras installer from programs menu. [done]

You're joking right? Most chefs are willing to share their knowledge and tools if you just ask nicely. Many Diamond Chefs, including Calcu, TobeyChris, JMZ, RSToyGuy, OMJ, Conflipper, and myself (plus many others that I didn't think of right away) are always publically posting OEMs, XIPs, SYSs, tools, dlls, cabs, reg edits, etc.. for other Chefs to use in their roms.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that you are cooking up some public roms to add to the mix, but please don't demean what others have done here. BTW, thanking a few of the members who's tools and knowledge have aided in your rom development would be the nice thing to do. Since you're using Calcu's kitchen, oems, xip, and sys you should at least acknowledge him.

Sorry, that's just a misunderstanding. I meant PPC software in general, not ROM development. If you compare PPC software development to desktop Windows development, you'll see that there are much more open source or freeware apps available on desktop Windows.

I'll most certainly add a list of thanks though.

Re: [F0.9 RC] alRom

Great rom, love the speed and low memory usage!
I'm having a couple issues:

1) ICR, Maybe it's just me but I have yet to find a rom with a working in call recorder.
2) You said flash lite was installed, it doesn't seem to be working for me.

Can't wait for future releases, I love stripped roms!
