Re: Skyfire vs Opera Mobile

Lest we forget SkyFire is a "proxy browser" meaning it does not render the pages itself. When you open a website in SkyFire, a computer (er... server) opens it for you then relays the data to your phone, similar to a BlackBerry's functionality. Although SkyFire generally does not filter "necessary"/unnecessary like Blackberry's where JAVASCRIPT is considered "unnecessary" by the BlackBerry servers...

When I used SkyFire on my old HTC Touch, it worked very well, rendered pages better and arguably faster than on Opera... However, SkyFire does not the ability to do "speedtests" because it would not relay YOUR speed, but rather the SERVER's speed (No, you do not get 50Mbps on your phone ),

As far as server-side browsers go, I still prefer Opera Mini over SkyFire for non-multimedia browsing. SkyFire's image-based approach doesn't work as well as Opera Mini's rendering for being able to read through a large page.

Re: Skyfire vs Opera Mobile

So to summarize;

Opera: Faster and better with a few minor but livable annoyances

Skyfire: There when you want to watch some p***hub.com on your phone
