Re: [12-18-08] Juicy ROM 4.3 [SYS OS 5.2.20764 Build 20764.1.4.3] [UC]

I've owned a Mogul and now a Diamond, I have NEVER flashed anything but a stock ROM, but now I'm interested and considering this one.....

Re: [12-18-08] Juicy ROM 4.3 [SYS OS 5.2.20764 Build 20764.1.4.3] [UC]

I have never been able to get push email working properly with any of Juicy's ROMS (not that it's stopped me from using them) OR the default Telus ROM. It works like a charm on Juggalo's ROM (email arrives as it's recieved) and I wonder if either of you know what the difference could be.

Still love your ROMs, Juicy. I tested Juggalo's for a week and this was a noticeable thing, so I thought I'd ask.

Interesting. I also haven't had push email working for a while. I thought it was due to changing companies recently (so I figured it was an issue with my new company's server), but now that I think about it, it could have been right about the same time I started using Juicy's ROM. Anyone else have this issue?

BTW, I still love the ROMs too. Don't think I could leave even for push mail!

No, it is not Juicy's rom that is causing your to not have push email or work exchange sync. There are many factors that can cause you to not be able to sync with your work. I had issues in the past and had to go through some steps to get it to work. First, make sure you have the correct security certificate installed on your device which your IT department should provide you. It is a .cer file. Next you need to install it to your device which is easy. Just put it on your device storage and select it, it will give you a message that the security certificate has been installed. Then soft reset. of course there can be other reasons you cannot sync which may include having the wrong server name, password, etc. but my issues usually revolved around security certificates. I can confirm that active sync is work perfectly on this rom.

Active Sych with company e-mail works. But...

Upon disconnecting from my work PC(using the USB cable), I find that "Microsoft Direct Push" needs to be toggled off and then on. Do this from the Comm Manager application. The foolproof method for me has been to toggle the "Data Connection" off then on, and then toggle "Microsoft Direct Push" after. If my password & settings are all correct, e-mail begins arriving immediately.

Give it a try; Thank me or PM me with your results(and we'll keep the thread on-topic)

direct push works for me fine with or without connection to my pc. I dont have toggle anything to get my mail. Not sure why this would be the case for you guys.

I think you misunderstood my issue. Activesync works for me. I am connected to my exchange server and I can send and receive emails. However, the push functionality doesn't seem to work anymore. It used to be that work email would hit my Diamond (or my Touch before that) pretty much at the same time as it hit Outlook on my desktop. Now, it shows up on my Diamond much later. Sometimes 10 minutes later, sometimes 2 hours later.

I have it configured to sync "As items arrive" for both peak and off-peak hours and "Microsoft Direct Push" is on. But I end up manually syncing periodically all day long in order to get my new messages.

Ok. sorry for the confusion. This has not occured for me on this rom though. occasionally there has been a slight lag but not 2 hrs. Not sure why this would occur. Have you noticed any lags with data meaning when you load up IE, does it freeze for 10-15 seconds or so? this happened to me on a couple different occasions with different roms and this may lead to the direct push stopping and trying later. just a thought. I changed radios and it stopped. I have found certain times that radios have worked better with certain custom roms although this probably doesn't make much sense. but I still see this to be the case. try another radio and see if this makes a difference. Sorry to get off subject but I wish I had a more definitive answer for you to use this rom.

Ok, perhaps I do not understand. But try my suggestion of toggling the Data Connection and then the Microsoft Direct Push on your Diamond. Let me know if this helps.
