i have a newb question, ive never flashed a radio before and am wondering if its ok to flash it with a custom rom. on my diamond im running Grooves rom so just want to make sure i dont have to go back to stock before flashing the new radio. please help.

no, your good to go. groove will remain after flashing the radio rom.

thanks man. just one thing, you need to flash the tp radio, not a diamond radio rom. i just noticed your sig says tp unless you have a diamond. just wanted to make sure you were aware.

i actually have both, no im not ballin, i traded my instinct for the TP and i bought the diamond from a friend.

just flashed the 1.11 radio on the diamond and went without a hitch. thanks again.

You can use a TP radio rom in a diamond. Just make sure its CDMA not GSM.

I'm in South Jersey with Sprint. I just flashed the newest radio. I'll see how it is in South Jersey if there is anybody here from the south jersey.

I flashed to the Telus radio which is better than the stock or Sprint 1.11 radios in the DC/Baltimore area using Mighty's 4.5 rom.

I do have a question though,
why do the custom Roms include all the other files if we're only using the RUU_Signed file in our Diamonds ? per Tobey's flash instructions

and noticed some of the other same-named files are larger, e.g. in Telus Rom

that is one way to flash adding the RUU_Signed file to the Diamond RUU folder but you can also just use the packaged roms. You don't need to drag out the RUU file since all roms are packaged now.

I just broke down and switched from the original stock sprint radio to the telus radio. WOW!!! I live in Charlotte, and the signal is better, and the battery life is significant. I no longer have sunburn on my cheek anymore!!!
