Re: [Jan 15th New Sprint Radio V1.11.00F] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread
I went from Stock Sprint to latest sprint.
Wasn't much of a difference, basically the same except the phone stayed cooler. Flashed to Verizon, MAJOR difference(3 bars extra everywhere, 2 bars where I had no service before) and same amount of heat. I live in a heavily rural area. |

Okay, here's my brief 2 cents about the Verizon Radio.
1. Tethering Data speeds are okay/acceptable. 2. Heat - Get's almost as hot as Original Stock Sprint. Not enough to fry an egg, but maybe enough to make French Toast, lol I've been tethering for about an hour, 1 10min phone call. Again, no extreme overheating. But it is almost as hot as Stock. Look at it this way, I'm not worried about burning myself, but it is noticeable, lol Now, on to Telus! |

Re: [Jan 15th New Sprint Radio V1.11.00F] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread
Is there a radio FAQ anywhere? I just started school and currently my phone gets no service anywhere on campus so I began reading and am a little hesitant to do anything too soon yet. I'd greatly appreciate advice if anyone can offer some. I live 10 mins. outside of DC but go to school in Annapolis if anyone could suggest as to which radio would be best for this area. Thanks in advance everyone.

I use the newest Sprint Radio, and that is honestly the best radio on my Diamond to date. Other people don't like that radio. So, it is more of a personal choice than "what we recommend." Just try them out for 2 or 3 days, and then see if you like the results. Just FYI, almost anything is better than the current stock radio.

upgraded to the new 1.11.00 radio and used some google maps GPS over the weekend along w/some youtube that actually got the phone pretty warm.
i'll test a little more, and may go back to the telus radio for comparison. didn't seem to get as warm on the telus, or verizon radios before though. |

I would have to say, the new Sprint radio (1.11.00F) and the Telus radio are the 2 better ones....
I guess it really depends on where you live and how much work the radio has to do to find towers. |

Re: [Jan 15th New Sprint Radio V1.11.00F] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread
I've tried them all... and the new Sprint radio is BY FAR the BEST of the lot in my location. This has been posted before, but don't be fooled by fewer bars. It's a power saving technique. When you actually place a call, the phone goes into overdrive and reception is great; better than any of the other Radios in fact. I can now use the phone from my first floor where I wasn't able to do this with any of the previous Radios. (I spoke for an hour from downstairs yesterday. Before, I would loose the call every couple of minutes).

Re: [Jan 15th New Sprint Radio V1.11.00F] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread
Yeah, after having tried the Telus Radio, to me it gets hot pretty much like Sprint, BUT, I seem to have better reception and even EVDO in areas today in which I would normally have really crappy service.
For me, so far, I rank the radios: 1. Sprint 2. Telus 3. Verizon I'm going back to Sprint now and I'm hoping that I get the same reception of the Telus Radio with the "cool" benefits of the Sprint Radio. |
