the advantages are listed in this thread. the plusses all depend on many factors. many have reported better signal, less heat from the back of the phone and even increased data speeds and voice quality. but it depends your carrier, location (signal strength), etc. The best thing to do is read up on this thread and try some of other radios out but make sure you know the steps.

so for anyone who had this same issue, it seems to resolve itself.....but thus far that was the only weird thing i noticed about installing this radio. I'll keep you posted if i find anything else.

Thanks!
That really has nothing to do with the radio. Google maps or any other gps program doesn't really knows where you are until it pinpoints you via the satellites once you load the program and let it find you. What the radio willl do however is possibly speed up response time. Usually, Google will default somewhere in California until it locates you on the map and sets that as its new default location.

Actually, I was referring to the newest radio posted in this thread. Didn't know there was an even newer radio from Telus. Oops.

Re: [Jan 15th New Sprint Radio V1.11.00F] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread

I took the plunge today and installed the 1.11.00F Sprint radio....

Initially, my signal went from 0 - 1 bars to 1 - 2 bars at home. I will mess with it over the course of a couple of days, but reading some people here, it seems like this new radio is decent.

Actually, I believe the "my location" function does not use the GPS satellites. Instead it triangulates your position off of the cell towers so it would in fact depend on the radio and not the satellites. All that being said, I didn't think that "My Location" worked with the CDMA network, I thought it was a GSM exclusive.

Google Maps will use GPS for "My Location" if the GPS is functioning. You need to select "Use GPS" on the Menu - and should see a status bar in the upper right corner stating the number of satellites in use. Selecting the blue square in the lower right should bring up a message bar with info about how accurate the fix is...

If GPS is NOT enabled... It will default to the 'tower' method as Joe explained above.

Re: [Jan 15th New Sprint Radio V1.11.00F] Official CDMA Diamond Radio Thread

Yes, whats weird is i just tried flashing the 104 radio which i had prior and this is also not working. I recently flashed back to the stock using the shipped exe to get pri 1.53, then just flashed the new diamond rom ported by dream_phyre for the pro, so i have the stock radio from the shipped exe. Do i have to relock it? I have alreay tried running the unlocker again this did not work. If i try to relock after flashing the ported rom will this jack up my pro? do i have to flash back to the shipped exe then relock and then unlock?
