Sometimes this can be a very important step. It makes sure you have gotten rid of settings and reg edits from a previous rom build.

It is good practice to format the internal storage if you installed a lot of cabs there as well. You dont have to do this but it has worked well for me. I was previously on Bear-Bonz and it seemed extremely sluggish. I formatted my internal storage and it was a night/day difference.

Another thing that seems to help is clearing your text messages frequently. I have found that I will use about 200 messages a day if I go about normal (that's why I'm always charging too) and if I go crazy I can crank out more. Emptying the inbox daily seems to cure any sluggishness too.

another thing you may want to consider is to clear out your program files on internal storage. I do this everytime with the exception of livesearch and one other program. the program files is where alot of the dormant files sit from previous cab installations. I have not had to format the internal storage once.

Seems that 6.1 is still the most stable version out there. Have tried 6.5 and just don't like it.
Have had the previous 4R3born on for a few weeks now - with minor bugs.
Going to upgrade to the 4R3born beta3 as it seems to be the most stable. Hopefully work on 6.1 is not completely dead.

I agree with an earlier post in the thread - the one thing I'd like to see added to 4/R3born is a 1xOnly/Evdo mode switch.
