Re: [09/08/08] JUICY ROM v1.06

Man, this is great!
I think somehow we'll need to make sure there's absolutely no bugs anywhere in Juicy's ROMs, add SIP support so we can set on a contact if we want to dial the contact using the SIP account (VoIP) or regular cellphone, make sure GPS works and talks, and _maybe_ this new Pocket Informant thing (the PocketPC version looks slick!) and it's a done deal for the most stable, working, as close to TELUS-ROM-as-possible-and-no-bloat ROM ever built!

And then, I have this thing on how I want to keep my business contacts back on Exchange/Outlook and not sync them to my phone. I will explicitly add the phone numbers of such contacts and set them to be called by VoIP (which will dial in to my office PBX and re-route the call to the contact from there). If I have to send email, I would be able to use "Lookup Contact" to lookup the email addr of the contact from the Exchange server and then email.

Ohhhhh, boy o boy. Looks like I have to change my underwear now.

GPS has been locking in sub 10 seconds since rom 1.03

Installing a Talk-to-me style gps like TomTom or Garmin is up to you after the fact. i doubt very highly that it will be included. as it is not free ware.

VOIP will not be included because it cannot be supported. juicy and my self just don't know much about it.

now as for the pocket information. ill have to take a look at that never used it before. and ill pass it on to Juicy.

The HTC Album Bug will be fixed next release im sure.
No, I know GPS works, I'm just saying how we need to bug test to make sure it works in one final stable release.

VoIP, I understand you guys don't know much about it. I don't know if this will help, but I came across something called Setup VoIP, which unfortunately after being setup and run, crashes. Maybe this could shed some light?

It's just like an IM client with username password sign on, and instead of messages it transfers voice packets. You can also come across these as "softphones". It's pretty cool.

Pocket Informant could be like a separate cab or addon to Juicy's ROM in such a way that when installed, Juicy's ROM will integrate PI.

Regarding the album bug, duh, lol. Just waiting on someone to mention something about Exchange now.

Re: [09/08/08] JUICY ROM v1.06

Pocket information will not be included as it would damage the PIM backup thats embedded into the rom. this will have to be installed by the end user if they wish to use it. this goes for TT and Garmin Nav app as well. you own it then install it. <- Talking to Juicy now. TT is free apparently so it is possible to cook it in. im unsure if he will at this point though.

GPS has been bug free since 1.03 so i dont think it will generate one in the future.

for voip use Skype PPC edition its the easyest way to do it. and it only costs you a penny a minute. if you do a call to a land line otherwise its free from device to device such as ppc to pc or vice versa.

Trust me, I know about Skype. It's a very end-user consumer type thing. PBX dial-in is more enterprise/company related thing. It's not even about the charges really. (Coming to talk of it, my company gets charge 2 tenths of a cent for a minute call, so 1 cent is still far off :P)

My calls that go out from PBX get recorded, show my desk callerID, I can transfer to the secretary from within the call on VoIP, make the secretary listen-in and take down notes, get my appointments settled in as the call goes on and it syncs to my phone, etc.

Many more things like this. If the phone is truly business related, I think a true VoIP client needs to be present, and not chingawingas like Skype.

Re: [09/08/08] JUICY ROM v1.06

The ROM should only include tools and tweaks. Any big apps should be left for the user. As some are commercial and others are not necessary for everyone.

Optimization and flexibility is the key here.

Adjusting things like allowing the Calendar and Contact buttons in TF3D to launch user specific versions is also a nice thing.

Juicy ROM: "Lean and Mean".

your missing my point, we just dont know how to put what your looking for into the rom that's why the VOIP support was pulled in an early version. we just don't know enough about it. your more then welcome to install a 3rd party app after the fact to get what you need done though Maybe we can work something out to get this included but i dont know the first thing about it to test it nor does Juicy.

we are trying to keep the rom as closeto stock with tweaks and better useability. including TT is still on the fence. probably will not be though. i install it after the fact its not dificult

Re: [09/08/08] JUICY ROM v1.06

Holy crap! I found it!

Here is how you can replace your default Calendar and Contact buttons in TF3D.

Change the default mode in softkeys on the first page of TouchFLO.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ HTC \ Manila

Change the value for each key (LSK on the left Soft Key, RSK for the Right Soft Key).

HomeLSKPath - "\Windows\calendar.exe" HomeLSKPath - Select the program "" example "\ Windows \ calendar.exe"
HomeLSKText - HomeLSKText - Text that appears eg Calendar

woot!
