2189x is windows mobile 6.5 and looks more like 6.1.

The 23xxx one is 6.5.x and has the start button at the bottom left in the softkeybar.

6.5.x (23541), with the start button on the bottom, is supposed to be a bit more finger friendly than 6.5 (21895) which has the start button on the top. I used to use 6.5 when I was on my custom Titanium ROM with SPB Mobile Shell. SPB MS used the bottom bar for some of it's icons/features, which is why I went the 6.5 route. I used SPB MS in the earlier stages of Sense 2.5 porting and I wanted something better than the original Sprint/Rhodium Manila.

Hard for me to tell if there really was any difference in speed between 6.5 and 6.5.x; maybe a very slight edge with 6.5. Never did see any bug reports on either sys, so you can assume they are equally bug free.

It's possible. Just picked up Programtix's most recent release of 2016 this morning. You willing to be the proverbial "guinea pig"? The only thing I'd ask is a thorough report as possible in terms of functionality, speed, etc., compared to 2012.

I used 23541 first and I use SPB MS as well. In the email 3D view I was getting the double Mobile Shell icons stacked on eachother which used to happen in the past. I always thought it was a SIP issue, sometimes installing a new SIP would fix it. Now I'm not sure what's causing, possibly it happened after I installed Opera 9.5.

I burned 21895 and haven't seen the double stacked icons. I did install Opera 9.7 FIRST, then Mobile Shell last. I really liked the way the 23xx looked, so maybe I'll do more testing, or I can wait for the 2016 and test more if you like.

OK. I'll review Programtix's posting and then cook up a 2016 over the next day or so and do some preliminary testing. If all goes well, I'll link it to the post with the other downloads. I'll keep you all informed on how it's going since there seems to be some general interest here and since we are still waiting on the latest MaxSense release.

Thanks for the report and yes, please keep me informed on this. By the way, did you turn Sense off while installing SPB MS, and while using it?
