That is strange, same here. Loophole. So what's the risk in ordering one. Worst case(probable) they cancel, best case you get an epic for $199 with NO contract extension!

I'm hoping that tomorrow morning i will be able to chat with sprint to get my sero plan changed to sero premium and then go pick up my evo at bestbuy.. I think the only reason they won't sell it to me is because it can't be activated but once i get my plan changed then it shouldn't be a problem. that's what i'm hoping.

Also i was just told by a rep that I will not be able to go back to the original sero 500 plan once i switch to the premium plan. Oh well i'm doing it anyways.

Well, poop. None of those options really work for me. (I'm leaving for Hawaii on Sat. AM, and would love to have my new Evo by then. None of the local Sprint stores have the Evo in stock, but all the local Radio Shacks do.)

So, that $100 rebate is, in essence, part of the subsidy you get for signing up for a longer contract. Dang. I was hoping that the phone would be $375 when signing up for a 12-month contract, but it sounds like it'll be $475, huh? Ouch.

How's this sound for a plan?

Bright and early tomorrow, I contact Sprint. Call them, or go to the Sprint store. I ask them to convert my current SERO plan to Premium SERO with the Evo tax. Then, I go to Radio Shack and buy an Evo. I won't ask them to sign me up for a new contract, but if they insist on doing something, they could "extend" my current contract by 12 months. (Which by then, should be "Evo legal".) Finally, I go back to the Sprint store and make sure the phone is indeed "on" my account.

I would go to Radio Shack and pay full price for the phone. Keep your upgrade going so then in a couple months get the latest phone for cheap and sell the EVO for $250.

Then call sprint and put the phone on your account.

That's a krazy plan! (Actually, it might be a cunning plan, but I don't really understand it.)

Okay, here's what I did: I went and talked to the dude at the Sprint store. He recommended that I buy the phone at Radio Shack, and then activate it (tomorrow) via the telephone. He said that it probably wouldn't be worth coming in to the store, since they're pretty clueless about the whole SERO thing there.

Fine. I figured I didn't need to wait any longer, and so I went and bought the Evo on my lunch hour. One less thing to do tomorrow. $499. Ouch. It's charging now. It seems very nice.

(I had no intention of signing up for a 24-month stretch, so this approach isn't costing me much more than I had originally planned.)

We didn't receive anything by mail but just got email today saying our plan was automatically moved to Premium Sero and that we now can get the EVO and other devices that we couldn't before.
