Re: New to BB - Service Books Issue?
Go ahead and install BBSAK and the lastest OS for curve. Backup your contacts and whatever else u want using BBDM. I wouldnt do servicebooks or anything and just reset that up. Launch BBSAK and do a WIPE this will wipe os and everything off the device. Then after your BB show a error 507 on a white screen, click load os with BBSAK and follow the steps. In the following screen you can customize what you want and dont want on the device itself.
Hope this helps, ~mike

Re: New to BB - Service Books Issue?
Hey Mike, when I do a 'wipe' I always get a message that it's a low level wipe and nothing gets removed....advice? Win7 64bit and yeah running as admin... bb = Tour
@OP.. try a security reset first to clear out your phone if Mikes bbsak method doesn't get you the screen he's suggesting. That at least starts from scratch with device OS... but yeah service books are pushed so even if I take them off the OS with shrinkOS they come back, I just "hide" them so I don't have to see them

Quote:
It should wipe to a 507 error and no os. My buddy who co-wrote it with me uses the Tour and Win7-64bit and works perfect for him. So after wipe does it reboot at all? Sounds like it may not be sending the command properly...but I need more info. ~mike |

Re: New to BB - Service Books Issue?
Yeah I've had it work before but not in the last several attempts. Like only the first time. I can't recall what version I used that worked.. maybe 1.3 or 1.5... but 1.7 it just gives me "low level wipe" notice and nothing really happens, no reboot and if I manually reboot I still don't get that "load software" white screen.

Re: New to BB - Service Books Issue?
Thanks guys.
I already jumped from the Curve to the Tour! Had a problem running an OS update and getting it provisioned. This BB stuff is just different enough from WinMo that I feel pretty lost! The programs I was referring to in my original post can't be "deleted" per se, just hidden as you suggested eenie. Thanks! |

Re: New to BB - Service Books Issue?
Yep, you're going to love the Tour way better than the Curve..the Curve is great but feels cheap to me... The Tour feel solid.
Don't worry about getting to know the phone, it only took me a week or so and I was very comfortable once I realized we can do all we did with the WM phones with the BB phones. Welcome to our Brave New World! |

Re: New to BB - Service Books Issue?
If you are still working on resolving this, I would suggest downloading the OS you want to your computer and then go to start> RUN> PROGRAM FILES> COMMON FILES> RESEARCH IN MOTION> APP LOADER. Make sure you remove the vendor.xml. with this app loader you will be able to choose which programs you want installed and which you would like to get rid of.
