Re: Extremely slow initial build

Ok, I figured it out. I have a problem with my built-in GPS. I can not get it running in WinMo either.
After installation GPS is turned on by default. The stock browser has the geotagging feature and crashes while trying to access GPS. The same happens with Google Maps. When GPS is off both work fine.

Hrm GPS in WinMo is screwed? What radio firmware are you on? As I understand it, our radio actually controls the GPS (all part of ARM9).

Edit - try 2.37. I know, it says Verizon - but it works fine on Sprint. I'm using it now, have been for months.

So? Does that mean you can't flash a new radio...?

Perhaps you need HSPL to flash a different radio... I don't know of any ROM's that have 2.37 baked into it...

ok, radio version is 2.32.00wf. Do you think flashing 2.37 will make a difference?

Couldn't hurt, but I don't know if it'll actually resolve your issue. Just grabbing at straws at this point, you need to triage your issue here.

Hey, I did flash the 2.37 radio, and GPS still would not work even under WinMo. I understand it is not your problem. I guess it is busted, so I will stop fighting with GPS.

Is it possible that this upgrade hangs the phone in WinMo? I am not completely sure, but I think similar thing happens in Android as well. The phone gets worm in standby mode, when connected to the charger and the battery is already fully charged. The phone gets worm in the holster in standby mode.

Another thing I noticed that the phone reboots itself when it looses the signal, in subway or in the elevator. I thought this new radio would fix the problem, however that happened again.

You're having all these issues in WinMo? Or just GPS. If GPS doesn't work in WinMo, I can pretty much guarantee it won't work in Android.

Radio version shouldn't fix reboots, that's a RIL issue in Android...

GPS does not work in both WinMo and Android. As I said above, I understand it is not a problem of XDAndroid. Warm phone on charger and in standby in holster is in Android. Constant hang ups on 2.37 - in WinMo.

Should we expect a new RIL build?

Doubtful on the new RIL. Issues are beyond most people's comprehension. The guy who rewrote the RIL a) doesn't have CDMA service and b) doesn't really have time for this project anymore. So unless someone picks up where he left off, I seriously doubt there will be any dramatically changed new RIL's. Perhaps minor changes here and there, but yea.
