Re: Extremely slow initial build

Hi, arrrghhh, after a closer look I can confirm Google maps itself works properly. The phone crashes when I try to turn on GPS. Under WinMo it works fine. I have not tried to turn GPS in WinMo and start Android. Are you interested in any logs?

GPS works great for me.

Are you booting Android with WinMo in airplane mode?

Logs would be necessary for a fix, but I still feel there's something awry. No one else has complaints about GPS other than it takes forever to lock, and the occasional reboot.

Re: Extremely slow initial build

no, I am booting with phone mode on. I suspect something is wrong too, given the way it installed, but I am not sure where to start looking.

Perhaps try my suggestions and in addition provide some logs if the issue persists?

Re: Extremely slow initial build

Hi arrrrgh,
I've done a few more tests. Booting Android with airplane mode on or off makes no difference. When Google maps is started with GPS on, or if GPS is turned on after Maps is started the phone crashes. With GPS off and location taken from the network it works fine.
I am attaching the log file I retrieved right after I booted again after a crash.
I am not sure how to produce the logs at the time of crash.GPS_crash_log.zip

Perhaps you should define "crash".

Reboot to WinMo?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2.2; en-us; MSM Build/FRX07) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

EYes, but since this is an uncontrolled restart after a 3-5 sec period when the system is non-responsive i'd call it a crash

K, I'll need some detailed logs from up to the crash. Logcat can run continuously, dmesg you can run continuously with cat /proc/kmsg.

You're also the only one that has this issue. I would like you to triage to make sure there isn't a user-error bug happening here.

Re: Extremely slow initial build

I am suspecting a user error. I just do not know where it can be.

Start over from square one. Follow the steps in my thread. Try GPS without installing any apps. Thanks.
