Question Tried XDANDROID - *VERY* slow typing, characters double and triple typing.. Help!

Greetings.

This is my first time experimenting with Android on my Sprint TP2, so I downloaded the RAR version of the XDANDROID reference build dated 11/22/10 (XDAndroid2.2Froyo.112210.rar).

After I extracted the contents and put them in the root of my storage card, I used Total Commander to make a shortcut to the startup utility, which I placed on my SPB MS home screen.

I ran the startup utility, chose my device (Rhod400), and instead of choosing 'Boot!' I chose 'Update' first. It said my current version was out of date. I forget what date/version it said I had (something from October?), but it apparently wanted to update to the 11/15/10 version, which I let it do.

I left the advanced settings alone, and made sure that my phone settings in WinMo were set to 'CDMA only', instead of global. The Sprint-supplied SIM card is still installed, and from what I've read here, setting the WinMo operator network settings to 'CDMA Only' allows XDANDROID to work successfully without having to remove the SIM. My WinMo is also not overclocked.

The first time I booted XDANDROID, when it got to the Android home screen, I touched the App Launcher icon, and my phone rebooted immediately.

I let it reboot, and ran XDANDROID again. This time, it did not kick me out by rebooting. I opened the Market app (which was very slow, on the order of about 10-15 seconds to load and move through screens) and found I needed to enter my Google account information. While my Google username is easily memorable, my password is a 20-character long random string, so I had to copy it character by character from the password manager app on my desktop PC.

When I tried to type either my Google username or password in the Market app, there was easily a 2 to 4 second delay between each press of the key on my hardware keyboard and it appearing on the screen. Both fields double and triple typed several characters, when I'm sure I entered them only once. I was able to (slowly and carefully) backspace/delete them.

After a few painstaking minutes, I pressed 'Next'. A screen popped up saying the phone was communicating with Google's servers. The screen went to sleep, so I woke it up with the hardware End key, slid the unlock slider.. And was greeted by a screen saying something about an unstable data connection. My only choice was to repeat the entire process.

I soft-reset my phone back into WinMo in frustration, and here I am now.

Are the difficulties I experienced normal? How can I fix them?

Thanks!
