[SOLVED] Still having issues with ringers and notifications on 2.1

SOLVED!!!!!

I didnt reformat, only because my Program Files Folder wouldnt cut and copy off the card for some crazy reason...

BUT, just taking off the Media folder and putting it back on was enough... ALL ringer, notification, and alarm tones are showing and working.. awesome!!!

END UPDATE
-------------------
ive had sound enabled since the begining.. i had to select my ringer by playing it in media player first..

i have the same \media folder that contains the 2 sub folders w/ notifications and ringers.. but i didnt do the .cab install so i dont have the \Andboot folder...

i made a mock \andboot\media\xx\xx folder and put my notifications tones and stuff in there.. but when i boot into Android it just confuses Haret and it doesnt wanna boot because it has an blank \andboot folder..

So.... why can Android not find my ringers and notifications?? any suggestions on where to move the stuff so its picked up by Android?

Thanks

Why are you making and "andboot" folder? There is no need for it, besides to keeps things organized on your sd card. Your media folder should be in the same folder as your android files, I.e. in the root of you sd card (and then android should auto find it), if you are not using the .cab install.

In order to use a folder you must add a relay in to your startup text, rel_path=andboot, substitute andboot with whatever the name of your folder is.

Re: Still having issues with ringers and notifications on 2.1

i made it because i was out of options man thats why.. just trying different things lol..

like you said i didnt do the cab install so all my folders for Xandroid are just on my root.. but Android doesnt find them in the \Media folder for some reason.. the Andboot thing was just a test, never moved anything but the media files there.. which has all been removed and moved back to root..

my folder heirarchy is this: \media(on root)>audio and resources> audio has 3 sub folders: ringers, alarms, notifications> resources is just full of image files(now if i move images here, they DO show when i view the resource library[so its even stranger that the audio isnt being found also])..

I pretty much have the standard startup.txt file(see below).. if i need to add a relay still for some reason(because i know i shouldnt have to) does it matter where in the order of things it goes? and since Im not using an andboot folder to keep it clean, what would it need to be i guess?? i feel like an idiot given my experience and not being able to figure this out LOL.. probbaly why Im not in a hurry to go Android fulltime on an Android only device lmao..

set RAMSIZE 0x6000000
set RAMADDR 0x10000000
set mtype 2292
set KERNEL zImage
set initrd initrd.gz
#pwf dm.txt 0x8e0000 0x20000
set cmdline "msmvkeyb_toggle=off gsensor_axis=2,1,3 lcd.density=240 htc_hw.force_cdma=1 physkeyboard=rhod400"
boot

I can't seem to replicate your problem, I have used a new sd card just for this, but it is finding all my media fine, what format are the files that you are trying to load?

Is that the exact startup text that you use?
If it is, it is very outdated, try updating it to the one I have posted, I removed the overclock and set it up for a sprint Tp2 for you.

Otherwise I think you may just have to redo your android installation, android was built to automatically recognize the media/ringtones folder and therefore not put then in your music app, do your ringtones show up as music?

Re: Still having issues with ringers and notifications on 2.1

yes, im totally outdated.. i waited a little bit in the begining but im sure i have one of the earlier mostly working "stable" versions.. i didnt follow progress at all.. everythinng worked for me so ive always left it alone.. all i had to do for sound was a new zimage and i didnt change anything else... and yes that was totally a copy/paste...

ill give your startup.txt a try in a little bit

So let me get this straight, are you using a froyo build, or are you using an eclair build?

Okay I was playing around with froyo, didn't realize the 2.1.
I will try later on today with eclair & let you know how it goes.

Re: Still having issues with ringers and notifications on 2.1

i still never solved this..

- im using Haret
- as of now everything is in \MEDIA>AUDIO(ringers, alarms, and notifcations) and theres the Resource(wallpaper/gallery) folder as well.. file formats are .ogg for all the stock tones and ive added some MP3 tones as well...

i can change my ringtone by going directly to a file, holding on it, and select as ringtone.. but thats its.. i cant seem to change any notification tones whatsoever..it just shows silent when it look for sounds

ive tried to different Media Scanners from the Market - MediaScanner and Rescan Media, neither work, they just hang infinitely..

my module is 2.6.27.46-01093-gf8a317c.tar

build is Manup456_2.0.1_ERD72
