Here's a guide to ADB, it's Android-specific but most should apply. |

It's actually not that bad to set up though. Just grab the USB drivers from here and extract somewhere: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11790134/usb_driver.zip Connect your device to the computer, right click on My Computer and click Manage, then go to Device Manager. You will see several unknown devices. Right click on the XDA one, and click Update Driver. Now select Browse my computer for the driver, click Let me pick..., click Have Disk, and point it to android_winusb.inf that you extracted from the zip. Select Android ADB Interface and say yes to any warnings. :) |

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [11/01] FRX02 Reference!
Hey guys. I've been trying for weeks to get android to boot up. It gets stuck on various stages of the boot sequence no matter what I do. I've tried flashing different ROMS to see if it was a compatiblity issue with that and I've cleared off the memory card and started from scratch. Nothing is working. When it first came out I got it to boot up but eventually deleted it because it didn't work with data and there was no sound back then. Any ideas on what could be the problem?

After that, download a new build. Extract the rar to your SD, and boot. Assuming it works, you should be able to update & continue. Be sure to setup the startup.txt for your phone (force cdma, phys kbd...) |

Thanks! How do I setup the startup.txt?

Startup.txt setup is pretty easy. If you use the startup utility, it'll set it up for you, but it can also cause issues. Basically if you're using CDMA you need to set the force_cdma value to 1, if GSM 0. You also need to match keymappings - so if you have a rhod400, your physkeyboardd statement needs to =rhod400... |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [11/01] FRX02 Reference!
Awesome thanks! So should I have extracted to a folder on the sd card or straight to it?

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [11/01] FRX02 Reference!
It seems that this is a common error in haret and may relate to why it won't boot: "there are differences in the boot sector and its backup"
|
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [11/01] FRX02 Reference!
Also: kernel panic, not syncing, fatal exception, rebooting in 7 seconds.

Could someone link me to what startup.txt should exactly look like for touch pro 2 on sprint?

If you don't use the startup app, you can edit the startup.txt manually (although I think sov added a checkbox to allow manual editing of the startup...) Normally it would just blast out the startup & create a new one every time. Orange & green indicate wake & sleep... Please read the FAQ. |
Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [11/01] FRX02 Reference!
Sorry, I just found the new Simple Guide and it answered all my questions. One last thing...is there any way to check whether android is running overclocked? And it seems like it keeps freezing, especially in kik and gmail and running kind of slow. Is there anything I should check on?

Check the startup file. acpu_clock= is your clock speed. |

Is there a cab for just the startup utility? I hard reset my phone and just want to keep my current Android setup. I know I can just launch Haret directly but I'd like to have the utility for updating purposes.

Hi,
I setup my phone to automatically sync with the network's time. But for some reason, my phone clock does not sync with cell network's time. It's running about 1 minute slower per hour (~10min per 8hr day). If I reboot into WM and relaunch Android, the time is correct again. Please help. |

My xdandroid 11/01 REF installs have also been running slow.. After about a hour or so of use.. it will begin to crawl and become laggy. I have tried reinstalling and formatted my sd card. I'm gonna go back to Sept's BLAZN rls to see if I have the problem.

Re: [CAB] GSM&CDMA Project Android Port and Startup Utility [11/01] FRX02 Reference!
I have noticed that I can fairly consistently cause Android to crash when using the Messaging app. I'll receive a text or go to send a text, and when I click around, I can usually tell when it is about to crash. Say I click a text message to read it, if it hangs for a couple of seconds, I know my screen is about to go black and boot back into Windows.
This didn't use to be an issue, it has been in more recent builds. I keep updating to the latest kernels hoping that it'll get fixed, but no dice yet. Also, deep sleep is annoying. :( |
