If I wanted to make GSM calls and GSM data but have a CDMA phone, should I use the GSM version of Android or will it become baked into this one as well? Or is it already there?

Hold the item, it highlights and a trashcan shows up at the bottom. Move the item to the trash can. If u let it go immediately over the trash it just moves it from the homescreen but if u hold it over the trash it deletes permanently.

Awesome! Now we just need to work on some Audio support, and this will be almost ready for prime time!

Quick off-topic question: If Haret actually reboots the phone into a different OS image, is it possible to boot into a WM rom image this way? I mean, I understand that haret is a linux booter, but this concept appeals to me- imagine having a choice of roms to boot into depending on who you want to try that day, all without destroying/flashing/erasing your current image in case you want to go back...
I'm sure someone would have done this if it were possible, just curious...

That's actually an interesting idea. I would love something like that. I hate having to restore everything that I have after flashing a ROM.

I followed steps exactly and had no problems, except data wasn't working. I removed my SIM card and now anytime I boot into Android it reboots my phone after about 7 seconds. I deleted all files and redid all the steps with no SIM card in, but the same thing happens :(

I am going to try the all-in-one package to see if I have better luck... This is so sick though!

Yeah, I think its just the shortcut. Long hold over trash deletes the shortcut perm and short hold deletes it temporarily I believe. Its in the instructions on first boot but I only glanced at them because real men dont need instructions!

Im not a chef/dev but I think the problem with that is Android is booting from the SD card and the Roms are from internal memory. Having one of the 6.5.3 roms on internal memory is rough but having 2 roms 6.1 or better wouldnt even be possible

I can confirm this works. For anyone that hasnt used Gen.Y before you have to edit a registry for androidbootfolder from 0 to 1 to get it to boot from the sd card otherwise you get an error android not found. Works great and lets you boot from windows as well as from startup. Good times!

Looks like hes saying try using an earlier rootfs file.

Thanks Mazzakre for the info, I tried using the old rootfs file which now I can get past the splash screen (animated X) to the setup page. I can touch the Droid figure and get to the next screen but then the device stops responding to touchscreen. Also if I press any key it takes me back to the Droid figure.

I just tested it, I wasn't able to.. I wonder if that poster used wifi and maybe wasn't realizing it or something....

A note of interest for everyone trying this, I used flyers all-in-one and deleted everything but my data file like Mr. Pippy said to. But upon entering android I was unable to access the marketplace, so I restarted phone, went into file explorer, deleted the data file. Android reinstalled, and went through the usual setting up stuffs. And bam, marketplace works now. Hope this helps someone.

First off want to say thanks again.... the speed that this is moving along is crazy! I'm loving this release and wasting an extraordinary amount of time fiddling with it. When sound starts working this will totally be my new OS, sucky battery life or not.

Has anybody been able to get Live Wallpapers to work? I downloaded some in MarketPlace and they are not under the "Wallpapers" where they were in the previous release. Is there a step I'm missing or something else I need to download? Not really a big deal, but it's a nice thing to show off with... lol

Took me about 3 loads before it stopped soft-resetting on me. Keep at it and it may boot up after a few tries.

Does anyone know why Gen.Y boots things so fast? Its loading my windows rom in half the time it normally takes. This just keeps getting better and better.

Yeah, howd you do it? I cant for the life of me figure it out.
Also, I cant find the apps that are already on the storage card under the androidapps folder. When I load android none of them are there and the program to load them (astro i believe) isnt there either.

Well I just went step by step with the instructions.. First let's work on ur GPS...

1. You installed everything correctly from the first post, renamed the zImage file and replaced host file and startup right..??

Depends on which version of Gen Y you install. There's a cab version of Gen Y that boots android directly from the SD card without having to make the registry edit:

Yeah maps located me as well, I mean right down to the turn in our complex lol. I do not have wifi in the building, the router is hung up and needs to be reset. I am connected through Sprint 3G. It's more accurate than Garmin Mobile XT ever thought of being.

note to self on the google search box, dont try to move it much its a little flaky lol

I where to finds apps via market or 3rd party vendor website. I know which folder to dump the .apk files on the sdcard.

I had some bad cabs on sd and had to delete some stuff. Thats the reason why I wasnt able to boot android w/ sd full of winmo stuff.
