Any thoughts?

the dev's haven't said that gps is turned on/working, it is just one person in this discussion said theirs seems to be working fine.
I wouldn't try to figure it out yet since gps still isn't a "go".

To get Cell Tower updating to work, what worked for me and seems to have worked for others is Updating to Google Maps 4.0 in the Market, and making sure Wifi is enabled by going into your settings and checking the box for Wifi whether you are using Wifi or not. Also some have claimed going into Location and security, and unchecking and re-checking the Use Wireless networks for your Location and accepting it helped as well.

I'm also having an issue with my location. It seems to be working when I turn on wifi, however it's showing me in london and various other places that I am not (I'm in Michigan). I'm on verizon so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, wondering if anybody else has had a similar experience.

thanks. As I said - my wifi is turned. (+ the other stuff too) Anyway - I re-booted and now it picks up just fine. :headbang:

So if your google maps isn't picking your location after you load the latest kernel with screen tweaks, and you followed instructions in Post #3 and you get a message that says 'location temporarily not available' ...try a reboot and see how that works. Seemed to do the trick for me.

FWIW - My first stop here is always 1st page post #1 and post#3 for any updates or corrections. So if I ask a question later in the thread, I'm pretty sure it hasn't been addressed. I also realize that loading new kernels and tweaks that aren't fully tested may change the way other things work.

Just lookin' for answers to new problems..not re-ask known problems.

I remember reading something in the thread before it switched over to Mr. Pippy's that some people have had their location determined, but it was suggested that this was Google's Wifi Locating service. I know they have a database with a lot of wifi networks so that could be the reason your being located.

This applies unless you've changed your IP address and/or router since Google drove by your location with their cars, in which case they no longer know where you are

It's not WiFi. They use cell towers. This is why My Location works on older phones that have neither WiFi nor GPS.
