IIRC, you can change the lcd.density setting and this determines what apps are shown/compatible. I'll try to find more info on it.
Recently I was trying to get the redbox app and on market or play it wasn't compatible but on amazon's market the same version was fine and dl'd, etc. Meh, not a huge deal, most of the apps I want/need I already have and work fine, so it's not a deal breaker either way, although that would be great if it's as simple as changing a setting. Thanks!

Hrm. Seems other native devices experience the same issue, and someone has solved it in a unique manner:

no more "not compatible with your phone" messages in the market - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

Basically it's an extension that spoofs your Android device, and grabs the APK so it can easily be sideloaded.

Not the best solution, but if native devices are having this problem I'm not sure what's the solution. I read another thread (can't find it right now) but there's an app that will adjust the lcd.density setting for you, then you just reboot and the Market/"Play" will act differently. As I understand it, Google uses this screen size setting to deliver apps. I'm sure it also runs a few getprops, could even be looking at processor arch - in which case, app devs might be removing support for armv6...

I pulled the netloc APK from odub303's XDA-Dev post (link, attached), renamed it to NetworkLocation.apk and replaced it in system.ext2/apps (system/apps). Rebooted and got a location fix without GPS. Verified with Location Cache Map app. I'll report if any side effects occur. Let me know if there a more appropriate netloc APK that I should try.

EDIT: CyanogenMod 7 has a better netloc APK. See post here.

IIRC I've been using the NetworkLocation.apk from latest GAPPS package available for CyanogenMod 7 without no problem, netloc is working for me!

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build

I had a random volume observation the other day. For the last few days my in call volume was so loud I could not hold the phone directly to my ear. The other day I booted into WM and turned the volume down a notch there, and then came back to android. The volume was where I like it. I was curious to see if anyone else saw a volume carry over from WM, or if my phone was just being a freak. It is my phone so that is possible.

This was a problem on FRX, for me GBXOB has not displayed that problem since call audio is adjustable with the new kernels.

I can confirm that the netloc APK from CyanogenMod 7 works, though I had some instability with the same from CyanogenMod 9.

EDIT: After a few hours of using the netloc from CyanogenMod 7, my Latitude history shows that this netloc APK works much better than the netloc APK from odub303's XDA-Dev post, so I'm attaching the CM7 netloc APK for reference.

It should be called "Play" now. Mine didn't show at first boot... then Market showed... then disappeared... then Play Store shows.

Reboot, or patience. Try both before reinstalling .
