Hi Arrrghhh, how's things? I recently bought a Nexus 7 and it does not connect to ad hoc networks. In researching a solution to setting up a wifi hotspot on my Sprint TP2, I ran across a post with you mentioning the built in wifi hotspot for android runs a regular network . I am having trouble getting the native hotspot started. When I turn it on it simply says "error". I am currently running the gbxoc 2.3.7 with the .39 kernel you recommended a few posts back. Although I have not fully tested if wifi works or not, I believe it does, as it detects all of my neighbors signals. Thanks for any help.

Try the newest 3.x kernel. 3.3.x IIRC was pretty stable.

I'm confused. Did you try newer kernels, or not?

Hey Arrrghhh! Thanks for the quick feedback. I tried the newest kernel package with the same results. Any other ideas?

Now it's old at this point, but I have to ask - are you on the newest package from the first post?

I guess post logs. If 3.3.6's built-in tethering doesn't work I'm stumped because it works great here.

So, I have been trying to troubleshoot my hotspot dilemma, to no avail. So far I have tried three different memory cards on two Rhodium 400's. Status-quo, with the same error message. The logs I have taken are from directly after the error on a fresh boot. pastebin.com/Fsg8XPu6
To answer your question, I am running the package from your first post, with the 3.4.3 kernel from 6/19/12 found on the link in the fourth post from Detule.

If seeking stability you should be using 3.3.x. 3.4.x came at the twilight of the project and some features never did get completely ironed out - of course, all it takes is one motivated individual.

Thanks and Thanked. That did it. 3.3.8 was the cure. The N7 is now up and running using my trusty ol' TP2 as a portable hotspot. Ya'll never fail.
