Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

Which kernel are you using karimkahale?
If it is 3.3.6 or newer you must install an app in android to control the cpu frequency (I use No Frills CPU Control, which is free on the market).
If you are using 2.6.39, 3.0, 3.2, or up to 3.3.4 then you need to use the startup command:
acpuclock-arm11.oc_freq_khz=xxxxxx
If you are still using the kernel bundled with GBX0C (2.6.27) use this startup command:
acpuclock.oc_freq_khz=xxxxxx
Of course those lines need to be placed in startup.txt within the quotes after: set cmdline "here!".

There is one problem on my rhodium 400, being used in GSM mode, once the phone loses signal, the phone goes in "searching for networks" and does not re-acquire the signal. Only re-boot will fix that.

Is there any fix for this?

You can try cycling the radio - airplane mode on/off. Sometimes it fixes it, sometimes it doesn't...

You have a RHOD400? Cam should work fine. What kernels have you tried? Did you pull any logs? Is it the camcorder or camera.

Don't use task killers/RAM managers. See my speed improvements thread.

Can't access SIM card, can't really help you. Use Google to import contacts perhaps...?

Either way you still haven't posted any logs. So you're on your own.

The camcorder and the camera are both not working.I am using the kernel bundled with the gbx0c.

Karim, you should update to the newest kernel from here:

Download the newest package 3.3.8 and unzip the files to the root of your SD Card, overwriting zimage then reboot.

I am pretty sure that there was a camera fix added around version 3.3.4 or something. The newest kernel is very stable and responsive.

i downloaded the newest package and replaced the old modules and zimage by the new ones.i tried first to run haret but it showed at the end an error :"can't access root..." though it was on the root of my device.then i formatted the sd card, deleted the pervious data.img and run haret.i got the same error.why is that happenning?

Did you format with the HP tool, or windows?
Have you tried another SD card?

karimkahale 06-14-2012 04:29 AM

I used windows to format it. I also used another sd card, the problem persists

Don't use the Windoze tools to format. WinXP, 7, WinMo, doesn't matter. They're all crap.

Use the HP Tool. Full format, FAT32.

I doubt that's your issue tho. When you run HaRET.exe w/o a startup.txt (rename it to startup.bak or something) what does it say in the window?

We found some WinMo ROM's would fake the processor arch I guess in an attempt to fool the system into going faster? I don't know if that's happening to you or not.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

@arrrghhh

Thank you! Your "to the point" instructions (along with the instructions from the Froyo thread in the parent forum) were perfect! I was able to get Android (GB) running on my TP2 (RHOD400)

Had a couple of minor issues
1. I didn't find the CSV files in my windows folder - but since you had provided the files for your RHOD400, I just used those.

2. Market app icon wasn't there (even though applications in android settings showed Market there - not sure what is going on) - I downloaded the apk from androidpolice and installed it by copying the apk to the androidapps folder under root, and then booted into android and presto!

Thank you once again :)

Edit 1: Forgot to mention - I got a crash in phone.apk the first time (as you had mentioned) - but phone worked normally after I hit ok to that.

Edit 2: The only "bug" so far is one that was described in one of the earlier posts - screen doesn't light up when there is an incoming call. But it does ring, so the phone answer physical button works.

The initial plan was to use this as a demo of Android for the wife - to see if she was comfortable enough with it to upgrade to an actual android device. But so far, it actually seems to be good enough to be used daily! (and be able to use an Android device on the base SERO plan without having to bump up to higher priced plans to activate an actual android device) Woohoooo!!!

Will continue to use this and see how long it goes without have to reboot, and to see what other issues this might run into (I'm sure there are some apps that simply won't install or will be super slow - but that will probably be ok)

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

Couple of questions
1. How can I do a PRL update on this?
2. The battery charge indicator light goes green when the battery has reached 91% or so (when the light goes green, the lockscreen shows 91%). Leaving it on the charger for about 30-45 minutes gets the charge to 100% (light continues to stay green), but as soon as I disconnect from the charger, the charge instantly drops to 98%. Does the battery need to be re-calibrated?

1. No. Do that in WinMo.

2. OMGB has a significantly better battery driver. The battery driver in the HaRET kernels is crap...

Also, Android userland chooses to have the battery go green when you hit 90%... As for re-calibration some have gotten good results from recalibration... but it seems short-lived. The real solution is the aforementioned battery driver. Not sure if that code will ever get ported to HaRET tho.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

For now, I'll stick with HaRET - zero risk, and have the option to back to winmo easily :)

I think I'll have to try out the wifi later today. (read about wifi keeping the phone awake - so will test it first). 3g is just slow (sprint) - and I really don't want Sprint to come knocking and asking me to switch to SERO-P when/if they notice the TP2 connecting to play store and other google sites suddenly! lol!

Honestly you have nothing to worry about here. A literal metric ton of people used this on SERO (some still do, and have for a long time). They just look at what is activated on your account

When the phone has lost signal, it doesnot go into airplane mode, i.e. I never see airplane icon even if I keep repeatedly try to set the phone in airplane mode every few min.

I'm not saying the phone will go into airplane mode on its own.

I'm saying you set the airplane mode yourself. I guess if that's not working, your only option is to reboot. You can try some commands from adb, pull some logs... but who knows.

hm noticed that if you use the volume+ app (there is a free one as well), it seems to boost the sound just a little more.

It's a okay combination with the extra sound files that was pulled from WM

edit: quick question, how big is the app storage on this? I go to storage and it says I have 76mb free internal memory but it says I'm out of space when I try to install a 2mb app

Data.img by default is 256mb. (aka /data)

arrrghhh i mean does the data.img split the space for apps? I mean I had space left but it said I was out. wondering if there is an app partition withing the data.img smaller than the 256mb

Not to my knowledge... It obviously gets populated with junk from the initial boot, but I don't know why your phone states you have some internal space left for apps and then you can't install an app.

Logs.

caldair 06-18-2012 12:45 PM

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

EyeB you can increase the size of your data.img using the instructions/tools here:
xda-developers - View Single Post - [APP] Windows: Create Your Own Data.img Maker Application, +/- From Existing data.img

I made mine 512mb and its working well. I wouldn't go too crazy though, anything over 1gb is total overkill.

Don't forget to thank the dev on the original post if this is helpfull!

hm i think i got it maybe :S i can install if I have the apk file, for some reason it's just a few apps from play store, not all of them

I'll get you the logs later when I'm able to get time to

edit: played with it some more and found out i could uninstall app and reinstall it, just not update it :S

Sorry man, issues like this without logs are pretty much useless. If it's something common I can say "yes do xyz" but this is not common ;).

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

i know :S i didn't get logs because i got it to install in the end :S I couldn't reproduce it afterwards since I didn't have a backup of the older copy

edit: reporting that live wallpapers work, pleasently suprised by this. of course the ones that require better hardware doesn't, but google maps live wallpaper worked fine for me. things like the talking cat doesn't

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

Hi.. My name is Armando and I need your help :S.

I have installed Andriod on my device, but it reboots after establish a data connection.

1. I noticed that when data services started with the mobile network 3G, the device reboots and I am not able to run Andriod again, problem is fixed reinstalling the andriod files.

2. I changed the settings of Andriod to prevent data connection with my service provider and no more reboot, but I wanted to use data so I tried to use Wifi and failed... the status of the connection changed from Connecting... Disconnect...Connecting... Disconnect...

3. Kernel was changed from 2.6 to "modules-3.4.3-gefb6d70.tar.gz"

4. I made a reboot and after this I was able to connect to WIFI

5. 3 seconds later the device reboots and I am not able to run Andriod again, problem is fixed reinstalling the andriod files. angry9:

So I am not able to use DATA connections with CDMA or WIFI, it reboots my device, I just want to know if I am doing something wrong and hope you can help me.

(add inf)
- I have the HTC TP2 from Verizon
- Stock rom WM6.5
- .csv files were copied to root.
- Airplane mode is ON before enter to Andriod.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

Try using kernel 3.3.6 or 3.3.8. 3.4.3 is somewhat rough around the edges from what I have been reading in the forums. If the older kernels resolve your issue then you know what is going on.

arrrghhh 06-25-2012 01:49 PM

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

I'd like to know what you mean by "unable to run Android again".

So you run HaRET.exe, and what happens? It almost sounds like your SD card is bad, try another card (or if you insist on using this card, at least give it a good full FAT32 format using the HP Tool.)

3.3.8 failed.. same process, reboots when establish data connection.

Did you do a clean build after a format with the hp tool, or reuse what you had? If you reused what you had format with the hp tool, and try again.
