Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
On Sunday, I flashed WinMo to take a look at this SD build of GB and before I went back to NAND, I wanted to say that battery life on this build has been unbelievable ... simply far and away above what I have seen from any other build of Android.

I'm running this build on RHOD400, audio seems to break within a couple hours of a boot. I deleted data.img And tried again, same issue. I pulled a log, don't know enough about what I'm looking at to be of more help. No audio, no Mic during the last 2 calls before log. and I tried playing music too at the end. ====================== SYSTEM INFORMATION =================== Linux localhost 2. - Pastebin.com
Also, I'm posting .csv for 400 |
Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
This is a great build, ear piece and speaker worked prefectly on a Sprint TP2. The DTMF problem seems still there, however. As reported in the FRX7.1 thread, programmed DTMF sending still does not work in this build. e.g. on a Sprint TP2, dial *2,,,,,,,xxxxxxxxxx (your 10 digit Sprint number), the DTMF sent by the phone is not recognized by the automated attendant. However, if you press the digits on the phone interface, the digits are recognized. Automatically sending DTMF is useful when you need to program calling card or voicemail password, etc. I remember when I tried FRX06 on a Touch Pro, this function was working at that time. BTW, Term.apk and SoundRecorder.apk seem not working.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
found a couple problems, not in any order of importance, just how i got them today
first, I noticed the phone would make a random continuous buzzing from speakers after I plugged it into car's fm transmitter via 3.5mm port. After discontinuing it, the buzzing kept going and I couldn't stop it until I restarted phone second, I got a voicemail and after deleting it, the voicemail icon (one that looks like o_o) never went away. In WM there was a clear voicemail icon setting but I couldn't find one for android. The icon stayed there even after a reboot third, also while in voicemail but applies to any calls I assume. When I make a call, I'll get no volume but I can toggle it on/off by toggling speaker but it would be iffy if the volume wouldn't drop later on again, to fix it I would just toggle speaker on/off again. This happens when I press a number in voicemail to save/delete it. It would go beep beep to register the selection then go silent. Then I have to toggle speakers to hear it again edit:I've installed a couple apps before I noticed these bugs, I'll remove them and see if it helps. |

The only bug I see here is #1, and it's known. You didn't post any logs (specifically after the issue occurs!!), so there's no hope in your feedback being useful. |
Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
Hm, i figured out the voicemail one, it's because I got voicemail while in android, but listened to it and deleted it in WM so when I went back to android, it thought it was still there
about the third, don't know what happened but now when I recieve calls, the phone doesn't ring or anything. Anyways I remade the data.img and seeing if problem comes back. I don't know if I broke something while playing with different options edit: I did feel like the sleep wasn't working all the time, some times I'll see battery drain as if it was on, but i had it "off". but again no logs :S sorry and I've already made new data.img. If I see problems again I'll try to get logs, just kind of hard since I can't find clear steps on how to get them |

I dont know why but my phone doesnt have the folder "directory" under /Windows... Can someone tell why this is?

Edit - wait... you should be in /Windows. No directories past that. Just /Windows/*.csv. |

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
Quick question. When you said that
Keep in mind, autobuild .27 kernels will produce no audio in this build... were you referring to in call audio? I did a clean build with the attached files, and I can get the call audio over the speaker phone or a usb headset but not the regular ear piece. I just wanted to make sure I was understanding correctly. Thanks. |

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
Oh, that is weird. I built the package on the first post, and I get no audio. I tried rebuilding it after formating my SD card using the hp tool, and still had no audio. So I built it again and then swaped out the packaged kernel with htc-msm-linux @ 20111017_080427 and the audio worked though a bit low on the volume for my tastes.
I also tried using the AcousticRAPH100CSV's.zip posted over at XDA and my own CVS files with no difference (not that I expected any). I will try downloading the whole thing again, and see if it behaves after another rebuild. |

If it still fails, post logs as quickly as you can after boot. Try not to run any apps, 'cept GetLogs ;). The CSV's are all at the ROOT of you SD card, no folders - correct? |
Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
Yes. The CVS files are at the root. Everything inside of the GBX0B folder is also at the root. I did recycle my startup file, but the only thing that I changed was the overclock.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
It was not kept in the folder, so there was no need to edit the path.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
I finished the clean build and there is still no sound during a call from the ear piece. Only the speaker phone gives sound. I am calling my voice mail as a test.
I am afraid my ignorance will need to be fixed too. Can you tell me how to pull the logs for you (or point me to a post with directions)? |

Ok. Let me know if these logs will work for you. Otherwise I can recreate them, or something else if you give me directions. :)

Try this. Boot the phone - immediately pull logs with GetLogs - post them to pastebin. Make a call - flip the speakerphone on/off, make sure it fails in the way you describe - and pull a second set. Sorry to be such a pain, but I just don't see any phone calls/problems related to sound in these logs. |

I tried to pastebin, but it never gave me a url for the log files. I pulled the logs and uploaded them here again. If that didn't show you want you need I will keep trying to get the pastebin to work.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
I beat on it with a hammer, and got it to work. Of course it could be the crappy reception I get in my apt too.
Before call-> Spam Detection For Paste ID: mMAZEyML After call -> Spam Detection For Paste ID: RGDX82rZ The call was about 12sec long, and I switched to speaker phone after about 8sec. Hope that helps. |

It's ok. I didn't go anywhere. I was already in the crazy. *Ponders licking the window*

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
Well if you don't see anything in the logs I wouldn't fret too much. I am beginning to suspect that there might be something wrong with the phone. It has started being unable to charge the battery on the WM side while the OS is running, but still charges the phone on the Android side. I even tried a hard reset on the WM side with no change. Very odd.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
I have tried using the new kernels, by overwriting the Zimage and adding the new kernel, and I keep getting "unable to mount root fs" What am I doing wrong? Ive even deleted the old Kernel. I've tried a fresh install and i still get the same error.
|
Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
alright, I renamed the new kernel to the 2.6.27 kernel and kept the .27 zimage, and it now boots up. Is this what I was supposed to do to try new kernels?

Unable to mount rootfs is an indication of a few things, none of which are related to the kernel. a) you don't have a rootfs.img file where you run haret from. b) you have everything in a folder, but didn't specify rel_path=. I can't think of another scenario that would result in unable to mount rootfs.img, but there's probably at least one more silly user-error thing that would result in that. Remember, this is for testing. Replacing kernels is a very basic thing - I expect people who run this to be able to pull logs... So please, review http://xdandroid.com/wiki/Incremental_Updates... |
Ok this was just a random startup log, just want to see if everything is kosher. Arrrghhh I'm still trying to replicate the hour long bug issue but I want to get a little more familiar with adb. I've just been reading about adb, would SDK be a good tool to help with my issue?

Once you get adb setup, I can walk you thru how to configure it to log continuously if you didn't save the last post about that ;). |
Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0B 2.3.7 Build
for some reason my rhodium 400 only takes new kernels when i reuse the original zImage, and just rename the upgraded module to the .27 module.

Please read http://xdandroid.com/wiki/Incremental_Updates - if you can't grasp it, then perhaps just stick with the bundled kernel...? |
Arrrghhh which version of Eclipse is relevant to this build? And should I start a different thread for these questions so I don't fill up the thread with this? Also did you have time to check the log I pmed you?
