Edit - seems this menu might not provide roaming, just preferred network type. D'oh.

No worries. Points for trying. :thumbright:

What's the battery life with this build?

I am getting about 8 hrs in GXB0C, default package from the post, on full charge (from Winmo).

If you're on the .27 kernel, use the xdaledregime apk in the android apps folder to see if your device is sleeping.

Also, consider upgrading to one of the newer kernels if sleep is indeed your problem. That solved my sleep problem. Once you get whatever the issues is fixed, there's an app in the market called battery calibration (or something close to that) that will reset Android's battery stats and probably increase the accuracy of your battery meter a little -- it's something recommended for all users changing builds or batteries.

The new build has both Xdaledregime apps ;).

I'm also uploading another bundle. Not sure how, but I managed to screw up netloc again. I swear it's good this time, lol...

I'm also ditching OI/Astro for ES per a few recommendations & based on some research. Uploading soon, the filename will stay the same - just watch for 'date modified' to change.

Edit - ran into a hiccup and had to make clean it and start over... at any rate, should be up in a couple of hours. Will update this post once I do.

Edit 2 - build is up on the .cz mirror site. Should get pushed to the main files.xdandroid.com soon...

Edit 3 - both mirrors look good.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

I've poked around a little, but haven't done in-depth searching.

Weird issue after updating to GB0C on my phone: settings and apps have bad orientation. Home screens are fine. Kinda funny. Disabling auto-orientation rectifies the issue, but of course it no longer auto-orients.

Anyone see this? I have re-used my data.img from GBX0B, will try a clean image.

On 3.3 kernel from autobuild.

On the upside, seems snappier and wifi/tethering works peachy.

Odd, never heard of this. Interested to see what a fresh data.img brings...

Curious, is it ALL apps, or just certain ones?

All apps - except the home screen and app list. Those two are both OK. Problem is present in fresh data.img.

I did use the suggested gsensor_axis=2,1,3, as I have for a long time across all builds.

I have a Rhod400.

Totally bizzarre!

Well, the values changed for DIAM, but I don't think they changed for RHOD.

The home screen doesn't rotate tho, unless you have an aftermarket launcher - Launcher2 doesn't rotate at all, unless you open the KB.

That is the correct gsensor setting, so I'm not entirely sure what's going on... You're literally the only one to report this, so I have to think it's something environmental with your setup/device.

Remember when I had the rotation issue, although mine was different with landscape and portrait mixed up. Try a complete fresh install including data.img, I'm pretty sure that's what it took for mine to resolve itself.

Re: Mini-resets troubleshooting

1 Attachment(s)
Just within the last 1.5 weeks I've been having mini-resets after getting into my car, when the following happens:
1) ExtUSB external power source connected
2) ExtUSB external audio connected
3) ExtUSB headset connected
4) Bluetooth linked
5) WiFi signal lost

I've gone through the same sequence for over a month now without mini-resets until the beginning of last week. I've had this problem with GBX0B and GBX0C and I've tried kernels .27 and .35.

I've attached a log file dump just after the mini-reset happened this morning at ~7:05am (5/9). The mini-reset happens closest to when the device realizes the WiFi signal is lost, so that might be a clue. I would appreciate any feedback of how to resolve or how to troubleshoot this issue. Thanks!

Have you tried any kernels other than .27 and .35? Both are really quite old at this point, the only kernels still getting updates are the 3.x kernels. I think they're up to 3.3.4.

Yes, but from what I understand, only 3.0 supports BT, and when I tried 3.0 my phone would not sleep or shut down properly. Do you know of any other kernels that support BT? What Kernel do you currently use?

3.3.4, but I don't use BT. 3.2 has BT, and I think BT recently made it into 3.3.4. Give it a shot.

BT works with 3.3.4 with a little difficulty pairing as I now see other people also experienced, but I'm still having trouble with the phone not sleeping with this kernel. What is the best way to troubleshoot not sleeping? I did build this data.img with 3.3.4.

Edit: Disabling WiFi allows sleep. I'll keep digging.

quick question on old bug, not sure if it's been fix/has a fix...

the phone switches to roaming (or at least the indicator turns on) whenever I send/recieve text message, is there a way to fix this? I can leave it there/turn if off manually so it isn't a big deal, just wondering is all

Never heard of this before, but I usually use Google Voice. Roaming doesn't really exist anymore (at least you don't get charged for it) so it should be harmless..

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

I know it's harmless, i just didnt like the extra icon lol :S

But after a little while it went away, I'm not sure if it takes time for this or not

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

if you pull GetLogs output after it happens we can get the tower status indicator added to eri.xml to get rid of the roaming indicator in that situation. Can't help without logs though.

I'm still having the sleeping issue with 3.3.6 when WiFi is on. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know of a resolution, or how to troubleshoot?

I thought wifi was supposed to disable sleep?

Isn't there a setting for that in wifi settings...? lol, people used to complain that the phone would sleep regardless of their settings (they would want wifi to keep the phone awake), now people complain that it won't sleep when wifi's on. Just can't win!

I have tried using WiFi sleep polices of "When screen turns off" and "Never when plugged in", but neither setting allows the phone to sleep if the WiFi is turned on. Could the new kernel be hard-coding the sleep policy to be "Never"?

No sleep with wifi ON and 3.x kernels. Tracked it down once to userland not releasing a wake-lock. Someone who needs this feature to work and is motivated enough needs to work out/track down a solution.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

I have a couple of questions that pertain to the build in general

When you go into app options and tell it to store the app on sd card where does it go to on the sd card?

Where are you guys getting the 3.3 kernels and such?
the only ones i can find are 2.35 and 2.39, and what is the difference in the builds?

also does bluetooth work on the .27 auto-build or do i need to update?

also how long can you record video? i can only go for 35 or 36 seconds before it shuts off without saving the file

I don't think you can, but it should just be under the 'Android' folder on the SD card IIRC. Search the card for APK's...

No clue what you mean "what is the difference in the builds" - they're kernels. There's a lot of differences, but most you probably won't notice.

Works is such a strong word...

Some people have great luck with BT. Others, doesn't work at all. Not sure it'll ever be 100%.

What kernel? I've never recorded longer than 10 sec, but I've never wanted to record longer than 10 sec :p. I was just testing that it worked.

As always, post logs when you report issues like this. Thanks.

Use the get logs app located in the apps folder of the build.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

thanks, i never realized what that was for:banghead:

A while back i was trying to use one of my spare tp2's to listen to music but the android music player couldnt find the songs and non of the after market audio players could either.
but yesterday while loading the new build on a 2 gb sd card i decided to stick a few mp3's on with it to see if they would play, and they did. so i took the card out and copied all the contents of the 2gb sd card to a class 4 16gb sdhc card and inserted it but when i went to the music player nothing was there. the same thing happened over a month ago on my class 6 8gb card.

what i think is that the music player, or the internal media scanner cannot search the sd-hc cards with a higher capacity.

what size cards do any of you guys use, and are you able to play music on GBX0B/GBX0C
Thanks,
Boneskid1

I use an 8G class 2 Sandisk and am playing music right now on GBX0C with 3.3.6 kernel. I am 90% sure that I was able to play music on the 32G class 10 RetailPlus that I was using with this build but I dont want to reset right now to test sorry.

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

oh its no big deal i just don't understand why it only seems to work on the 2gb card, also my bit rates differ from album to album but android by default accepts up 320 kbps and non of my songs are bigger

where do you have the songs in on the sd card

caldair 05-25-2012 06:24 AM

Re: [TESTING] XDAndroid GBX0C 2.3.7 Build

The music is in a folder I created on the root of the SD called "Music" with some albums in subfolders.

Edit: Sorry I kinda forgot where I was when I replied to you yesterday... as I have a GSM rhod I don't know how helpful my personal experience will be for CDMA peeps. But I did test the 32 gig card again and music does work there!

hmm. i have cdma so that could be it but i would consider it under a last ditch thought.

Another Question for the other users, Has anyone tired to install adobe flash before?

i considered doing it on this other build, and i will do it tonight and post results on how well it works with the browser or if it worked at all.

I didn't say that I loaded it. I said that it had been reported to work.

So side load the apk if you can't find it. Try it, and see if it explodes.
Let me google that for you

And we can't help you with picture mail as we don't know your provider, your device, or any specific error.

I will make an educated guess, and say you have not put in the APN for your carrier.

You have to give me a little bit of chicken if you want chicken soup. If you only give me crap, you get crap too.

Also reguarding your music issue. It looks like there is a music.apk on the xda forums.

I finally took the time to mess around with this.

If I put a fresh install in and booted straight to a 3.x kernel, it would mess up with a fresh or old data.img.

I tried doing a fresh install, new data.img but booted into the 2.x kernel that is in the latest gbx0c package. Worked - upgraded to newer kernel after and it stayed working. Weird.

When I'd go straight to a 3.x kernel, it would not properly use the FN key on the RHOD400's keyboard, so I was unable to use symbols and so on, along with the screen rotation weirdness.

Wizard i miss understood what you were saying about the flash player, and i will give that a try at some point, but my picture message problem is that it will not download after i receive it, i click on the download button and it says downloading for quite some time then it goes back to the download button again. i know it worked at some point because i received some pics and they downloaded and i can still view them.

My phone is a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2/RHOD400, my plan has data so it is not restricted by that.

and the Music.apk you directed me to might work but it appears that was a fix for the stock app crashing upon opening, not loading the files, but i will give it a try as i have nothing to loose really.

Sounds like you didn't input the sprint apn info.

Go to Menu > Settings > Wireless > Mobile networks > Access Point Names

Hit Menu > New APN

Use this info. http://xdandroid.com/wiki/MMS

Then reboot.
