Format at least data and system. You obviously don't have to wipe the FAT32 partition, that would be bad, and cache - is pretty much useless.

It's in the menu options, can't remember the exact sequence but yea... format data and sys if you're switching builds. If you're just upgrading a build, I would imagine you can keep data and just wipe the system partition.

can this method of preparing to load another build be confirmed?
let me get this straight,just initialize cwm wipe data and sys then load up new update zip?
i would like to try this but dont want to screw up a perfectly running build

Well if you're switching builds, then that's exactly what you're doing - screw up a perfectly running build .

Seriously tho, formatting data and sys will start over. Wipe them clean. So anything from your current build will be gone, bulldozed - so you can then install a new build.

I'm sure you already know this but, backup your current build using CWM before you clear the data and system partitions. If you don't like the new build, clear the partitions again and restore the good build. Very easy to do.
