Re: unwanted vertical scroll bars in UL??
SKTools has a function that easily allows you to reduce with width of vertcial scroll bars without getting into the registry.
Google SKTools or search for it here in the Software Forum. late, Coz

Re: unwanted vertical scroll bars in UL??
The thing is, I don't want the bars there at all & I can't figure out why they just seem to appear any time they feel like it on the home screen.
Will SK allow me to eliminate them in the way I want?? If it will, I will buy it immediately. I have memaid & pocket mechanic, would either one of those help me in any way?? ~John |

Re: unwanted vertical scroll bars in UL??
I don't think MemMaid has the feature and I'm not familiar enough with Pocket Mechanic. I believe SKTools still offers a free demo...so check it out before shelling out your money.

Re: unwanted vertical scroll bars in UL??
I just bought SK from Handango, I have read it's a great app & I have no problem buying an app like that. Thanks.

Quick question. I was just playing with SK & that function where you can change the scroll bar size is the same reg key entry I was modifying myself (no big surprise there). HKLM/System/GWE/cyVser & HKLM/System/GWE/cxVser are where those two values are registered. the stock y value is 20 & the x value is 13. You can manually edit the reg & change these values to whatever you want the same way that SK does. The problem I had was: When I tried to put the stock values back in (I had set them both to 0), it did not want to accept the change (both values kept reverting back to 0). Do you know if SK can force the reg to accept the new values, or is it simply allowing a user access to those settings without doing a manual reg edit??? ~John |

Re: unwanted vertical scroll bars in UL??
You can enter any value you want manually in regedit also, but getting it to accept the higher value when I tried to put it back to stock was the problem.
Never mind, I'll just play with it & see what happens, I have a BU of the reg I can import if I need to anyway. ~John |

Re: unwanted vertical scroll bars in UL??
actually the answer to your question is that you need to go to \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\UltimateLauch and change Type to 5. then your problem should be solved.
