unwanted vertical scroll bars in UL??

UL is really irritating me. I keep getting a vertical Windows scroll bar on the right side. I have tried all different settings for a fixed plug-in height (or leaving it unchecked) & absolutely NOTHING works.

I try a setting (like a fixed height of 260 pixels) & close out the config & the bar is gone. It will be gone all day & then I will do a soft reset & the damn thing is back again......... It happens when switching from portrait to landscape and back again also. When the bar appears, nothing has changed in the UL config..

I had problems like this in WM6.0, but they seem much more persistent in WM6.1.

The ONLY fix I have found that totally eliminates the scroll is to disable the scroll bars in the registry & then scroll with the D-PAD. That works fine, but I kinda like having a scroll bar in apps at times........ Not only that, it is a PITA to undo that regedit. When I went to undo it yesterday I had to change the settings something like 10 times before the change would stick......

Does anybody know how to keep those bars off my home screen in UL???

SKTools has a function that easily allows you to reduce with width of vertcial scroll bars without getting into the registry.

Google SKTools or search for it here in the Software Forum.

The thing is, I don't want the bars there at all & I can't figure out why they just seem to appear any time they feel like it on the home screen.

Will SK allow me to eliminate them in the way I want?? If it will, I will buy it immediately.

I have memaid & pocket mechanic, would either one of those help me in any way??

I don't think MemMaid has the feature and I'm not familiar enough with Pocket Mechanic. I believe SKTools still offers a free demo...so check it out before shelling out your money.

I just bought SK from Handango, I have read it's a great app & I have no problem buying an app like that. Thanks.

Hey coz,

Quick question. I was just playing with SK & that function where you can change the scroll bar size is the same reg key entry I was modifying myself (no big surprise there).

HKLM/System/GWE/cyVser & HKLM/System/GWE/cxVser are where those two values are registered. the stock y value is 20 & the x value is 13.

You can manually edit the reg & change these values to whatever you want the same way that SK does. The problem I had was: When I tried to put the stock values back in (I had set them both to 0), it did not want to accept the change (both values kept reverting back to 0). Do you know if SK can force the reg to accept the new values, or is it simply allowing a user access to those settings without doing a manual reg edit???

With SKTools you should be able to input any value you want...just do a soft reset afterwards.

You can enter any value you want manually in regedit also, but getting it to accept the higher value when I tried to put it back to stock was the problem.

Never mind, I'll just play with it & see what happens, I have a BU of the reg I can import if I need to anyway.

actually the answer to your question is that you need to go to \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\UltimateLauch and change Type to 5. then your problem should be solved.
