I use Sprite Backup whenever I put new Roms or programs on, and then use PIM for everyday, that way I am not clogging my card with a lot of MB files for backup... I think u should be able to go in and select what is being backed up, same as Sprite.... |

Spb Backup files are standalone executables, so they must be larger. I love Spb Backup, it is essentially a ghost of your PPC. Use it when you get your PPC configured exactly like you want, back up, and store it on your SD card or on your computer. I have a ghost on my card and computer and backed up online... Yea I obsess over my phone

Yes, SPB does create a 'ghost' of your device for those hard resets, but if you go into 'Custom Backup' you can backup your SD card (I keep a copy on my PC (I have had a card or two go south on me!!!), or you can do a PIM backup (like the OP was rxpecting). I keep a copy of that on my card as well (nothing like having a hard reset on the road, and no contacts to fall back on!!!

Okay, I KINDA see... I guess what I'm really asking is...
"When you back-up your device data using Spb Backup, what happens when you execute the backup file. I mean, does it put all the programs back + all the settings...or is like PIM, where it's mainly for contacts, tasks...etc? I know it's a stupid question for which I probably know the answer, but most of you are much smarter than me with all this stuff...lol -Touche' p.s. Oops, and I forgot to thank you guys for you responses. So....THANK YOU!! |

Don't worry about the questions...you have to learn somewhere/somehow...we all did!!!
When you run the backup file (main PPC backup) it will bring your device to the point it was at when you did the backup. For instance...if you do a backup now (saving it on a card), then hard reset, your device is set back to 'out of the box' status. Now use file explorer, find the backup file, and run it. Your phone would be back at the point it was when you did the backup...Today screen, apps (including registrations), and any reg tweaks. You may need to run your PIM backup file, but if I remember correctly, they are in the main file as well!!! I hope we are clearing up some things for you. |

I have never used that function, so I don't know...I bet they have asked over at the SPB forums...unless somebody here knows first, I will see what I can find out for ya.

Does it backup and restore *all* the changes needed for the teathering hack? This would include changes made to the data settings on the phone, not just the registry changes.
|

I haven't done the hack myself, but the backup file is basically a clone of your current configuration, so I would guess that it does indeed restore the hack as well. (All the hacks I HAVE done carry over, so I don't think yours would be any different)
