Windows Mobile 6.5 next month?

http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=11426

"Microsoft will show the next version of Windows Mobile next month."

So I guess palm pre's new OS is making Microsoft want to work faster.

Re: Windows Mobile 6.5 next month?

Well it makes sense. GSMA is next month and that is when most people figured they would talk about any mobile updates. The CES appearance was more about Win7.

Sounds more like MS is just panicking at this point, knowing that they will lose all market share before WM7 comes out, which in all likelihood will still suck.

I think you're right, but I'm still dreaming/hoping/praying that they'll come up with some new great Touch UI but still leave a it powerful tweaking OS for us power users. I really want to continue to be a WinMo user but if WM7 sucks there's no doubt I'll be going with the Pre.

Re: Windows Mobile 6.5 next month?

I have a feeling they'll take a look at how menus, combo boxes, and list boxes are presented. They always figured they wanted to make these pocket pc's as much like desktop computers as possible, but I think (hope) now they realize they can create a "thumb friendly" environment while maintaining all the functionality.
