Bell Tethering

Hey, i was wondering what process one would follow if they were looking to tether with bells $7 data plan and not recieve any additional charges. I have not been able to get a straight answer and i want to know if this is even possible.

Thanks

Re: Bell Tethering

The first post of NFSCAN's thread says that his ROM allows free tethering. But I'm afraid to test it - the "punishment" can be too expensive.

I would wait till the day before your billing date, try it on a few basic websites and then wait until your bill shows/come available. Just to be sure.

Re: Bell Tethering

I have heard that it is as simple as a registry entry change, but I don't know what or where to make the change. I am using omj's bell oem rom and don't know if it implements this registry hack.

if anyone knows what change is necessary please feel free to post. Thanks!

Re: Bell Tethering

Aren't you worried that Bell will implement some tweak in the future and you will be surprised by a multi-thousand dollar bill?

This is exactly what I did with PDANet (using the Bell stock ROM) about 2 months ago, hooking my phone up to my EEE PC.

It worked flawlessly.

Now using NSFANs ROM, and still had no extra billing on tether.

I would ALWAYS recommend doing the same 'day or two before billing' test the first time, just to be sure.

Re: Bell Tethering

I know that people swear by pdanet, but I would just rather edit the registry myself and use the native abilities of my rom and bluetooth to tether. I've searched around but still have not found a definitive answer as to what changes are necessary.
