Decisions....

Okay, here's the deal. Through Verizon, the TP2 is 200 dollars. Through Sprint, its 350. If I leave Sprint early the ETF is 200 dollars. This will end up costing me 50 dollars more up front if I switch to Verizon. Sprint's plan is ~80 a month. Verizon's plan is ~100. Verizon gets WAY better coverage in Upstate NY. If I switch to Verizon, I pay less for the phone, but have that 200 dollar cancellation fee which will end up costing my 50 dollars more than buying the phone and staying with Sprint. Also, if I stay with Sprint, I will be saving 20 dollars a month. But, sacrificing a bit of coverage. What do I do?

Re: Decisions....

My two cents, I would not jump unless the network coverage is very poor. Over the years the savings on Sprint will be significant. Unless you are in the woods there is a good chance the network will be improved. I may be wrong but isn't Verizon not to keen on slingbox and using lots of bandwidth? Sprint lets us actually use the network as long as we are not tethered and of course we know there are ways around that issue. I myself do not tether.

Re: Decisions....

For the most part, coverage is fine. I lose signal while camping, or at one friends house.

Re: Decisions....

If you want to go that route, you can always try talking with Retentions at Sprint. Also, is the Verizon plan $20 a month more for true "comparable" coverage? Sprint gives us an awful lot of goodies in most plans. I'm on a family Everything Data plan, for example. Besides having all the offerings, Sprint has now decided to give us the unlimited any mobile to mobile calling. That alone may save me about $40 a month since I'm seriously considering canceling my landline now. So make sure you are comparing apples to apples as closely as you can for a true price picture.

Re: Decisions....

I IM'd with an online rep last night who said the same thing about unlimited mobile to mobile. I haven't had a land line in 7 years now. I may end up switching to Verizon along with my girl, which would make the bill the same as it would be with Sprint.

You can't just roam during those times? If it isn't all the time you will be fine....

Re: Decisions....

For me it was just the opposite...I came from Verizon to Sprint with the TP1 (been with Verizon for over 10 years). Here was/is my perspective...IMHO, Verizon will find some way to squeeze out a few more dollars in whatever plan you have, or cripple your device in some manner...Sprint has not done that...In addition, when I left Verizon, I was trying to resolve a small problem with my phone service; they would not budge...even out of contract, they just let let me cancel my service...as a fairly new Sprint customer, my experience has been GREAT...They renewed my contract a month early for the TP2, credited my account instantly for the MIR, and have ALWAYS provided what I have asked for, though sometimes it requires a supervisor

The only reason I would switch is if I had no coverage, which for me is not the case...best of luck in your desicion...either way, you will have a great phone!
