touch pro 2 roaming on gsm???

im on the line right now with retentions this guy is telling me it will work on a gsm tower is this true? and he hung up UHG!!! $450 is the best they can offer me on this phone as a current sprint customer

Bottom-line, it has no subsidy (network) lock, BUT due to FCC regulations, it's locked out from any US-based GSM service providers.

No It will not operate on a GSM tower in the United States...
Yes it will operate on a GSM tower outside of the United States(mainly overseas)...
Anyone can correct me if i am wrong...

Well they didn't completely lie about it, it CAN work on a GSM network, as long as it's NOT an US-based carrier like AT&T or T-Mobile.

However according to them if you travel out side of the States and use some other carrier's SIM card it'll work since it "has no subsidy lock" on it.

As for breaking the US-based GSM carrier lock down, it's just matter of time.

Oh yeah don't feel bad about $450, I had to pay full retail PLUS 9.75% sales tax.
