I have a 4 gig card in my Mogul.

The beauty of having the maps and voice
on the card is you are accessing the data localally and not through your data connection. That's not to say you don't need a data connection-you do.
It uses the data connection for POI's and local searches .
as well as to check your licence when you want to navagate.

I personally like Sprint Navigation. Its free with the unlimited plans and it has voice turn by turn. You can also find gas stations, department stores, restaraunts etc. That paired with Livesearch is a perfect combination of driving directions and finding things like phone numbers and dialing them directly from the app.

Re: What's the best GPS application 4 my Mogul???

OK.. so i've spent the better part of the past weekend installing Garmin Mobile XT on my xv6800.. with the updated North American 2009 NT mapset.
I'm not so sure i'm totally sold. I honestly can't see where i would ever use this vs. MS Live Search or Google, unless i simply had no data connection available to me.
i think once you see MS, or Google, you become spoiled by the satellite imagery.
The Garmin, looks to me like a kids coloring book.

things i dont like: i have to zoom ALL the way in to see any kind of POI info. and when i zoom in that low, it's very dis-orienting as to where my surrounding actually are.
the map graphics are a little lame..

things i like: audible warnings and such. self-priming GPS launcher. obviously the ability to have all map data on my SD.
It tells your your speed in MPH and will calculate the time in which you will arrive at your destination.

things that confused me: i had a zip code that was off by one digit, in my contacts. when i tried to map to that contact, it simply said not found.
Google maps, even though my actual contact zip code was WRONG, google CORRECTED it, and mapped me.. this is HUGE ! garmin simply gave up.

so i don't know .. i'll keep this installed for a while i guess.. but my programs of choice still remain google maps and MS Live search..
it will take some repeated usage of Garmin (which i will do), to persuade me to switch.

Re: What's the best GPS application 4 my Mogul???

does anybody on here use sprint navigation...it's awesome and combined with Google maps (for quickly finding things when you dont need driving directions) sometimes you just want to know where the nearest Mcdonalds or something is. Those two apps together are near perfect. You could replace google maps with Live Search as well though. Live search is a little better because of the movie and gas features. In actuallity too though Sprint Navigation does ALL of the above too. So you could easily survive without either Google Maps or Live search.

Re: What's the best GPS application 4 my Mogul???

ok, now my mapquest sound problem seems to have resolved itself.
works nice again!
but, like lawilson2 said, if you're paying for the everything plan, paying for another service besides the included telenav is, well, just pointless, unless money is no object and you really love your other program.
