Official 3.3 AKU minus new bootloader files

Hey, I thought I'd make it easy for all those who want to flash to the new Official 3.3 AKU, but are afraid of the big-bad new bootloader files. If you flash the official without removing the bootloader files, your phone's bootloader will upgrade to 2.04, in which that case you then cannot flash to any other ROMs at that point. It sucks, I know. So anyway, I pulled those files out, as well as the radio (some people are still skepticle about it), and made a zip for you guys. This will only flash your ROM, your extended rom and radio will stay the same.

1. Download zip
ftp://ppcgeeks@www.ppcgeeks.com/Apache/Users/Phoenx06/
(use ppcgeeks as username, ezupload as passowrd, double click official 3.3)
2. Unzip
3. Place phone in bootloader mode (hold record button and power button, press the soft reset button)
4.Connect phone via usb
5. Run the RUU (APACUpgradeUt_noID.exe)
6. Follow the onscreen instructions
7. Remove phone when finished
8. Perofrm a hard reset (hold both soft keys and press reset button)

There you go! This will leave your extended rom alone, so as long as all your carriers customizations are on it, you should be fine. I have Verizon, and I know it works fine. However, I am quite sorry to say I cannot garauntee other carriers.

Also if you do want the radio upgrade it is located here
http://www.ppcgeeks.com/upgrade-to-r...-41-t6663.html
And you can do the radio upgrade without the ROM upgrade.

Nice, you the man!!!

Trying with one of my Sprint 6700s now via a Vista box too!

Update:

OK, updated the ROM and Radio and so far so good! I was hoping for newer ICONs but I guess those come in AKU3.5?

just flashed this and everything seems smooth so far. Obviously data and sprint codes aren't working until I install the required cabs.

phoenx06, couple questions...

1. Just to confirm - flashing this ROM will not affect my ability to flash a 3.5 ROM?

2. Is it a generic ROM

3. Did you place any programs in it or is it empty?

Thanks for all your hard work!

I just installed this to my PPC 6700 from Sprint, and I've noticed that I can no longer get EVDO, instead I'm stuck on 1xrtt.

edit: I went back to my orginal rom I was using, and the same thing, but I'm also in an area where EVDO is new, so I'm thinking it might be a PRL thing since the update went back to an older version of it.

I flashed this, and I am receiving EVDO just fine. I also upgraded my Radio version earlier today and have had nothing but great service everyone I have been today.

This is a very slow STOCK ROM. It is not as nice as some of us have been spoiled creating our own Roms.

I do look forward to using some of the newer drivers in a newer kitchen, and getting my hands really dirty!

No extra programs, it is the official ROM, no changes
And, no it will not affect your ability to flash other roms. I took out the new bootloader files that prevent you from doing that.
