AKU 3.5 Bluetooth PAN Fixed!

FINALLY!!! It's finally done!

Registry entries and DLL file came from the shipping HTC Excalibur ROM which has AKU 3.x preloaded.

Just unzip the Cab, copy to your device, and install.

Make sure that the Bluetooth client is correctly paired with your Apache or it just won't work. For some reason, the Pocket PC won't automatically alert you to pair for this service even though it usually asks for file transfers or Serial Port connections.

Have fun, and let me know how it turns out.

I don't have a laptop with bluetooth. Can anyone confirm that this fix works? If so, we will incorporate it into the uniform kitchen project.

PAN or DUN?

I thought that what was not working was BT Dial Up Networking profile (DUN).

With PAN, isn't that working, and won't using the "Internet Sharing" application solve any issues?

Your PC must be using the Widcomm or Toshiba Bluetooth software, or at least anything other than the Microsoft stack that comes with Windows XP SP2. The drivers CD that came with your computer or Bluetooth dongle will usually have something better.

The Microsoft stack (on both the desktop and Pocket PC) is very limited compared to its competitors. My XP-SP2 machine can't recognize it either, but my Widcomm machine does.

Why did they have to take out the DUN profile anyway? All they did was get rid of convenience.

NO, Bluetooth PAN was still an outstanding issue in the last pre-release.

3/8/2007: Bluetooth PAN is still an issue. There appear to be conflicting reports on whether or not PAN works or not (performing a quick Internet search). Menneisyys wrote up an article expalining the change in the dial-up networking model changes in AKU 3.x. For Windows Vista, there's an article explaining how to connect to a Bluetooth PAN. It would be nice if we could find a device where Bluetooth PAN does work, and determine whether or not the DLLs there are usable or not. According to Menneisyys' article, certauin Himalaya, Universal, and Wizard ROMs have Bluetooth PAN support.

THANKS RONIXT!!! This works GREAT. In fact i'm using it now to type this.

Using a Dell Bluetooth (uses 2004 Widcomm software for that matter) I forgot I had disabled my Bluetooth LAN connection for the longest time and when I flipped that on, it worked!!!

The source is right here buddy!

I've been working on it all night!

Just check the CAB internals and you'll see that it was created under my nickname.
