i need help upgrading to wm6 on vista

i cooked my rom and it told me to plug in my device in bootloader mode and i did, then i get a 101 error saying it cant find my device. another thread said i have to use activesyn 4.5 for it to work.. but it wont let me install activesync because i have vista and i have to use "windows mobile device center" can anyone help me?

is there another way to load the rom?

ADD: it will work if i use the helmi rom thats already made, but it wont work with the wm6 kitchen....

First of all make sure you do update the windows mobile to the latest version. Secondly, there is a file you need to give administrative priveledges to before it will work correctly. Go to chat and ask one of the fellas. I had the same problem and I was told to give administrative priv to one of the files running within kitchen or it might have been kitchen exe itself. Good luck

do you know who you talked to? cuz i would really like to get it working b4 2morow.

There's always someone there that can help you with this.

Make sure your WMDC is current.
If you have bootloader v1.00, you may have troubles unless you update it to v1.02
If you don't give buildos/ruu Run as Adminstrator, you'll get UAC warnings

If you have problems, make sure you got the double tones when connecting your phone by USB (both the USB mount and the WMDC mount tones). If you get an error message, tell us the error message EXACTLY as it appears, when the error appeared, your bootloader version, and anything you've already tried.

i have bootloader v1.02 and just downloaded the newest WMDC and installed... but when i plug in my phone it says i get a balloon saying it cant recognize the device so it wont even load on WMDC. and this happened after i loaded up Helmi's custom wm6 rom for verizon 1.02 bootloader.
actually i just put my phone into bootloader mode and it says v2.02.. can that be it?

reboot your PPC, reboot your PC, try a different USB port, instead of the back ports try the front ports or vice versa, do not reboot the PPC when conncted via USB to the PC, make sure no 3rd party firewalls are running for the moment.

Sounds like a WMDC problem. Is your phone in bootloader mode? WMDC can't connect to it if it is.

nope, my phone is just on the today screen when i plug it in...

GGURUUSA helped me and I had EXACLTY the same problem. I had to do with administrative rights in Vista. It would act like it was loading the Rom then when it came time it told me could not connect to device. I talked to Ggruusa and he had me set a file to administrative in vista and It worked like a charm. i HOPE THIS HELPS.

If you can't get the WMDC connect tones, you need to try your device on a different PC, preferably an XP machine, and see if it too has the same problem identifying your device. Make sure WMDC is current (sometime sometimes WMDC loses it's mind and you have to reinstall it even though it's current). The only time I've had trouble with Vista and a current WMDC that was freshly installed is w/ v1.00 bootloaders. If you're still having no success with Vista, find an XP machine w/ AS 4.5 on it. All you're trying to verify is that your phone isn't the problem (which it shouldn't be, given that you get USB connect tones).
