How to Patch:
Go into your PPC registry and find the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TWC\twc\Internal
Change nrl value to 9999
You will be able to try The Weather Channel 9999 more times.

uhh...dude. i created that reg edit. it is the 1st post. been there since 2007.

Posted a new cab I made on rapidshare. Link is on Post #1. It has the reg edits already done and removed the awful Today screen plugin from installing.

this is not warez. it is a trial with a reg mod. not a crack or serial. it will not be registered to you.

Semantics. The weather channel give you 10 "free" uses for this software and then expects you to pay for it. If you check it once a day, then that's 10 days worth.

This registry edit translates it into over 27 YEARS worth of "free" uses if you check it once a day. You can justify it any way you want but you are cheating the developers out of their money. Normally I wouldn't have even responded but when I see the ZERO TOLERANCE announcement at the top of the forum page (also listed below), it seems a bit hypocritical.

I probably won't make too many friends with that attitude but I detest software piracy in all shapes and forms and whatever spin you attempt to put on it, your registry mod is just another form of piracy in my opinion. Nobody needs 9999 "tries" to make a determination whether or not to purchase something, you are cheating the system, plain and simple.

This post will probably be deleted but I just wanted to get that off my chest. This is a great forum with a lot of great info but where do you draw the line when it comes to "helping" others?

if there is a problem with it i will pull it. its just a reg mod. the reg mod is ok if u do it manually but not ok if it automatic? sorry, im just trying to help. i dont use warz. i know the policies here. if u look at my post i almost alwys post useful things. u are waste of time. the mod already saw this when i posted it last year. if u wanna start a pissing match i wont participat. thanks for nothing. sheesh...

The problem I have is with the big ZERO TOLERANCE announcement that is essentially meaningless. When I first read it, I thought "Wow...really cool site...good to see one with some ethics or morals, whatever you want to call it."

But dig a little deeper and you find that people try to be "clever" and use fancy wordplay to justify their cheats and the admin seems to have no problem with that.

I deal with a lot of "double standards" at work so maybe it's a sore topic with me. Just needed to vent, that's all.

If you like shareware, subscriptionware or any type of paid software that you use it all the time, then you should pay for it to support the developers, not look for ways to "extend" trial versions forever.

That's all I'll say about it, don't want to turn this into a flame fest.

I hear what you're saying, and personally if I like an app that much I don't mind throwing them the appropriate fee to use it. But when they have a poorly secured trial method, calling them out on it isn't exactly illegal. If someone posted a version of the app already hacked, that would be different.

I'm sure if they care they will smarten up and fix their programming.

Flaming isn't necessary, no reason why this conversation cannot be a civil one
