Re: New HTC WIFI Router software makes WMWifiRouter obsolete

Works great for me! I'm using a Telus CDMA Touch Diamond with the Juicy 8 Rom. I do have a question about this app though, currently I have an unlimited data plan with Telus that includes everything but tethering. By using this app will I be charged for tethering or will Telus think that it is on device traffic seeing that the app is probably using the same gateway as apps such as opera. Any ideas?

Re: New HTC WIFI Router software makes WMWifiRouter obsolete

So i dl'ed this program before a trip to vegas last weekend so that I could use my laptop on the hotel without having to pay for internet and it worked great.

After telling my friend about this, I installed the program on his TP via .cab file and his will not work.

The only difference I see between our two is that under the "internet connection" part at the bottom of the screen, mine (that works) says "Data" and his says "Sprint" under that part.

Does anyone know how to change this?

Start>Settings>Connections>Manage Existing Connections

There is an edit option under the 'Modem' tab.

This sounds great. Can't wait to try it out when I get home. Anyone know if this program lets you select your web connection?

In other words, will it try to use "Phone As Modem" or can I get it straight from the Internet connection without having to do any sort of hack?

I have seen many people have trouble getting other devices to see the network created by this app. I am one of them. I have set up the ad hoc connection in start > settings > connections > wireless lan on the phone and also in windows vista on my laptop. I start wifirouter and it runs but I just cannot see the network?

edit: I am using this cab that I added HTC scroll (so it scrolls) to, no other changes.
edit2: Booted up backtrack3 and that cannot see the network either, so the problem is not with the computer.

Hey everyone!

Well I integrated the wifi sharing app into the comm manager a while back and shared it at XDA, so if you want to try it out, here is the link to my XDA thread.
