when you subtract 15% on a calculator it subtracts 15% of whatever number you enter, it does not use an arbitrary formula.
so when you type in 1000 -15% in landscape mode on the default calculator it should equal 850, not 999.85. use the % sign on any calculator, including the Windows one and enter 1000 -15% = Guess what, you don't get 999.85. |

Yeah, I decided to check what my calculators and they indeed come up with 850. I even hit 10 and then the % key, thinking I'd get .1, and to my surprise, I got 0. That's messed up.
Google calculator gets everything right, at least.

But it's not broken, that's the point. It's one of the few that get it right! Plus it's easy to just download a calculator app from the many available. That's the beauty of your $580 device!
